    Tried exporting 1920X1080 Square – black border still apears on exports.

    WRT Encore – Do understand converting to DVPAL size, but with CS3 I could create a timeline with a piece of HD footage with no hassles. Encore would then handle the resize in the transcode..

    For the purpose of geting rid of this prob I’d exported a number of clips from various projects, making sure no filters were applied. On another forum I’ve noted comments relating this behaviour to speed changes/remaps [with no solution] – my clips that appear darkened happen to also have Premiere time remaps/speed applied..

    RE FCP Capture – As noted above, as a test I captured video directly in Premiere with the same results..

    Maybe Premiere was just not [properly] made for a mac. And now I’ve got Adobe on the line who are of absolute no use..

    My bet is on the audio files not being linked, its also prob not in the project folder, but on a diff drive.. Try putting all assets on the same drive – re-link after if necessary.
