I asked your question to the old pros on the IMUG list, here are their
suggestions:

I have a two-part label system. First, I temporarily label tapes and
such using a white Stabilo pencil. Writes on anything, can be wiped
off with your fingers later. It’s like a grease pencil without the
grease (get them from your local art supply store). For permanent
labels I use a small Brother label printer. One of the greatest
pieces of office equipment ever made.

For our permanent spine labels we use the brother labeler as well and it
works very good. Same thing, a code and date string. My Central Arts
series is coded for example as CA-0601 which translates to Central
Arts-Year 2006- Episode 1

For example, the first tape today might be labelled: 020106-001 State of the Union Reactions from Downtown Tulsa (Please demonstrate some maturity and resist political comments of any kind here) We use a Brother labeller to do this stuff. Hi Vinnie – my favorite of the large sets are Boris BCC https://www.borisfx.com/products/

Sapphire sets are great, but I haven’t been able to afford them yet.

T_box can be bought in a 3 for the price of 2 bundle. But If you can only afford one set, I’d be torn between 2 and 3. 2 has classics like lensflare filter (phenomenal despite the disheveled interface), not to mention “Paint” which gives breathtaking results . 3 has a good diffusion filter and Turner, an organic distortion filter. T_box 1 is nice too – etch, Tile – a few filters on 1 are dated, but it’s still a strong set.

Boris is come through with a ton of fine filters from classic halftone to rays (the graphics kind), a classic, to transition filters that allow you to add fractal distortions for wild effects. I think that their
updating sphere so that it animates from a flat plane to a sphere, alone makes BCC a must-have.

Its interesting you might be debating the ethics of copyright. ie taking the image. Anyway, you might be interested to know the work Genomixer consists real representaions of my actual DNA, which I had fully sequenced. As such the work proposes to question the validity of ownership or rights to dna. DNA seems to be regarded as some sort of intellectual property. Going further who has the rights to all the DNA on the police database in the UK? Soke of these works are actually playing music to my base code ie atcg etc and the musical files are opensource. Also I have made a piece of work called DNA clock on my main website (www.stanza.co.uk) where I am proposing my whole dna is open sourced as a piece of code.
