The soon to be released 19 will include, according to Company ads, an “adjustment track”….we’ll have to see exactly what that is, because the info is really skimpy right now, nothing to explicit or detailed.
I’m sure there are ways to do this otherwise. I would, in lieu of a perhaps better solution, save a lut or color correction setting as part of a filter package in the effects selection main menu. Then just apply that. On can then select multiple events, and once one event is “copied” (control c) select the multiple target events (control click) and then right click and select copy selected attributes. That should get you close to what you’re wanting to accomplish.

It’s still happening. In my case, I have a Mackie Control. Once the onscreen Master fader locks, I can still move the fader with the Mackie Control, but everthing available to the mouse is locked. I can effect a “save” with the Mackied Control dedicated “save” button, but I get the hour glass activity icon. It eventually unfreezes, at least sometimes. Maddening. I was think it might be the Mackie Control linkup, which is skittish in my settup, Do you use any MIDI? ( I realize the post is years old, but this is STILL happening and I have Vegas Pro 17.
Thanks for any response.

Not to your issue, precisely, but I use a Mackie Control (or Logic Control) and works very well for mixing or soloing tracks, and the JOG wheel is boffo. But a good controller with a Jog wheel could be found elsewhere, but those are the two MOST practical uses, for me, solo buttons (and mute) and jog for transport zipping around the timeline. Also, a second play/stop switch, which also comes into play when you have edit window open, for some reason.
You CAN sync to an external editor, especially by way of editing of existing files (you can creat a dummy file) in a selectable 3rd party editor, and edit and that would come back at the same time space, you would need an added element, an editor WITH a video track, and you would provide a rough cut, maybe, to serve as your video reference/guide. All of that is DOABLE, BUT…
You should probably leave that sound design for the end, produce a rough cut, open that rough cut in your preferred audio program, (inclusive of MIDI,VSTi-‘s etc. ) and really fine tune that, export that audio track, or tracks, or mixdown, etc. and IMPORT that into Vegas (probably using a Zero reference/start time, in both programs for ease of timeline alignment – though not absolutely imperative)….and then go for an audio inclusive render.

This is a very good question.
Samplitude, Magix’s flagship for audio, is very efficient resource wise.
I would imagine that their video stuff is too, (haven’t used it much) but it has been more rudimentary
that Vegas, hence a good buy for the company. Let’s see how efficient they can make it. They seemed
to, right off the bat, bring new format capabilities to Vegas, but it remains to be seen if that starts to
translate into a more effiencient playback engine, which Vegas was known to be a bit less efficient that
other similar NLEs.Maybe others can give feedback. I would think it would not be an quick fix here, maybe a couple more
versions or a major revamp down the line, which could happen. Magix is a real player in software. -
Vegas is vastly superior in just ease of getting basic things done, it is more direct, more WYSIWYG, and functions like audio programs, as that is its roots. Also, the audio is much more flexible and less clunky.
There may indeed be some things Premiere excells in, (I just can’t get past the clunkiness of the interface, so I don’t really use it that much) and one would be interfacing with AE, though I use AE and just import files into my Vegas timeline. So, for me, not that huge, but if you want that interfacing, you have it.
Premiere may be more flexible with certain codecs, but Vegas is not bad, not at all. Playback may be a bit better in Premier, YMMV depending on your machine/graphics card. This will remain fluid, let’s see what Magix does in this department, they are pretty good with some of their other products.
I use both, only because I am an Adobe subscriber (mainly for AE and PS etc.)
I am very anxious, again, to see what effect the new ownership by Magix, a German software company whose audio flagship, Samplitude, I do use, and I love that. Super features, super good on resources.
Anyway, just my two cents. For easy, straight forward stuff, Vegas beats everyone. Beyond that, it’s all about what you’re producing and what other tools you use.
