    Thanks Todd
I prefer the green screen approach simply because you can get a good enough result a lot quicker than rotoscoping.
But some people prefer to roto because they get to keep the contact light on the finger and don’t need to deal with green spill.

I am still torn between the two.

Thanks. I tried twixtor, that didn’t really work. It produced a lot of artifacts.
It’s the same for the timewarp effects in AE. It also produced a lot of artrifacts, but at different frames.
I also tried telestream episode, that didn’t work either. It creates a new frame every 5 frames by blending 2 frames together. It’s like AE’s approach, except it’s more noticeable.

    Any other suggestions?

I solved the problem by setting the field set.

But now I have another problem.

Let’s say I have an user field called “proxy”(USER 20) in the “production” field set. But I also have an user field called “proxy”(USER 15) in a different field set. Let’s say the field set is called “archive”.

Now, how do I set up the worker node to watch the “proxy” field in order to trigger the same action(generating proxy files)?

If I set the field set to “production” in worker node, then the files with the “proxy” field in “archive” field set won’t trigger the action because the actual name of the “proxy” field is USER 15 instead of USER 20.

If I delete the field set setting in worker node, I still can’t refer to the same “proxy” field because it just lists all the user fields as USER XX. If I choose USER 20, how do I know which USER 20 is it? Is it from the “production” field set or the “archive” field set?

What I did was to put all the user fields in the same field set, and all the groups were set to use the same field set.
    Is this the best solution?

    Thanks

July 25, 2013 at 8:31 am in reply to: CatDV won’t generate proxy file for ProRes 4444

I am running CatDV Pro 10.0.3 on Mac OS 10.8.4.
How do I find out the ProRes codec version?

In the proxy setting, I’ve selected the size setting to “Scale do not exceed, 640×480”. Everything works except for ProRes 4444. But if I change this setting to “Single field(half height), then it works.
But I don’t wanna have half height because I have some old SD footage, half height is just too small.

sorry to interrupt, I have been trying to get AE to output to external monitor.
I have a decklink studio card install in an Mac Pro and a sony pvm 2541, they are connected via SDI.
There is no 1080 25p settings, so I use 1080 50i. But the monitor is flickering very badly.
    Any solution??

I found out the reason why I can’t use the monitor as a second display because Decklink Studio doesn’t have the “Extended Desktop” option.
But I am still have trouble with After Effects and Final Cut Pro. There is no preset for 1080p 25, so I use 1080i 50. The monitor displays the video but it flickers. I already turn off “remove field jitter when video is paused” according to the user manual.
How can set this monitor to display 1080p 25fps correctly?

Thank you for your reply, James. Your suggestion about storing the background render files on the local drive totally make sense. According to the data on facilis website, we only need 10Gb ethernet for FCP, AE and Nuke. So the grading suite is the only workstation requires fibre connection, right?

Hi Andrew, thanks for your reply as well. I couldn’t find a lot info on the gblabs website. Do you mind giving me a bit more info about Space? Does it have a software like facilis to creative a virtual volume or it’s just one big volume with 64TB? Does it support AFP?

    Thanks
