Had another issue pop up today. Went trying to export out the XML from FCP using Auto Duck, nothing comes out. No error, no file, nothing. So, thinking that it could be a newer version of Free XML Exporter from Automatic Duck, I looked it up. I did have v1.11 but now they have v1.12. I downloaded and installed the upgrade and sure as the sun, it worked. I was able to export using Automatic Duck a XML file for AE to use. BUT WAIT! Now when trying to import the file into AE CS4 (using pro import 4.03) we get an error. It will not take the file.

I have a ticket into Automatic Duck about the problem but I’m thinking I’ll have a better chance here with a fix.

    HELP

Opening the QT in the QTplayer and opening info tells me the size. Also when importing the QT into After Effects, it also gives me a size of 655. Now, when dropping the QT back into FCP, it reads as 720×486. This is just strange.

Specs for the system (just in case)
    MacPro 2x3Ghz Quad Core
    8GB Ram
    Nvidia 7300GT
    Kona 3 I/O card (6.5 driver)
    OS 10.5.8
    Xsan 2
    Final Cut Studio 3

I’m just using Export > Quicktime Movie. I’m NOT using QT Conversion. I try using conversion also but still get the 655 size. I know that this is the size of the movie and not just some display error cause when dropping the movie into a AE comp it’s 655. I never had this issue on FCP 6.

Yes, you can just drag the Quicktime in FCP but the timecode for each clip starts at 00:00:00:00.

    **** UPDATE ****

Cleaner 6.5.1 will work! I had only one spot that failed when I tried to get certified but it wasn’t cause of the compression. It had an audio issue from the studio. I just used a different spot in place of the one. Cleaner may not be the best software to use because it so old but it will work if you have nothing else at the time.

Ok. I did change the video playback setting in FCP to 1080p @ 23.98. It looks like the video is playing back but I have a vertical hold issue.

(sometime I wish I was an engineer)

    Jonny-

I cannot go back to 5.1 because I don’t have 5.1. This was a new system starting with FC Studio 2.

    Jeremy-

FCP 6 will change the sequence to match the codec with the first video you drop into it. So, if I have a new sequence set to say 1920x1080i 10bit uncompress 29.97fps, and my first edit is a video that is 1920x1080p ProRes422 at 24p. The sequence will ask if you like to change the setting for this codec. Even when I do that, I still get the sync issue with playback and a freeze frame on the client monitor.

    Thanks for you time
