I think I made a goof when I posted this…but I don’t know if it makes much of a difference. I’m using fur rather than hair. But I can try your suggestion for another picture I’m working on.
Thank you!

Hi, was reading the post…some good stuff! Another thing you might want to consider is using the timeline (window > timeline) using this you can further adjust (with what I consider a bit more ease) your key-frames and adjust how quickly/smoothly a key-frame is enabled)i.e. a box dropped from a specific point takes a specific amount of time to reach its maximum velocity. The timeline is one of your most valuable tools for adjusting and tweaking actions within your animations.
Happy C4Ding!

February 19, 2012 at 8:24 pm in reply to: R13 Objects disappear and being stuck to the upper left viewportI had a similar situation when I first installed R12. And though this may not be anything like my situation this might help you to shoot in a new direction. First have you tried uninstall/reinstall? Second my issue turned out to be the particular video card I was using in conjunction with the Maxon software. There was a problem with conflicting software. I turned off the OpenGL in preferences and it started working fine, not the resolution I would have liked, but it showed me that my video card was not compatible with Studio. If these trouble shoots don’t work contact Maxon tech support.
Cheers!

Thank you… however, this is where my settings lie. With a new file it works properly and like it always has: with the fulcrum “i.e. whatever is selected” at the center of rotation. But for some reason this picture is not working like that. I am using a symmetry object. But nothing in the scene has a center of axis for where the camera is rotating. I’m modeling a head, and no matter what I have selected the camera rotates around some fictitious point right behind the nose. Any suggestions.

December 30, 2011 at 9:24 pm in reply to: Changing mother board, what should I put on it?The issue is not about what you “put” on your motherboard that will mean anything. The issue is what hardware you want it to run efficiently. Your motherboard is merely a frame with which your hardware uses to run itself. If you want to run a powerful core along with a powerful video card just find a motherboard which can suitably handle your hardware’s needs.
I know I am speaking generally here and I hope you understand my point. If you want to build a dragster you don’t build the frame first and then find an engine to match it. You build your engine to handle your power requirements, and then build your frame so as to adequately handle that powerful engine.
I hope this helped in any way!

Thanks Adam but it wasn’t the transparency. At one point I turned it off just to see if it was. Turned out to be the color mapping I was using… doesn’t work so well with grass apparently!

Not sure if this will help but… you can “set selection” through the selection menu, however, I find it easier to apply materials for a specific region by dropping the material onto the selected polygons only. If you simply drop it onto the object with polygons selected it will apply to the entire object and not the selected polys. Doing it this way automatically created a selection tag for future reference.
Cheers!

If your just posting a picture click on the image upload button (the red arrow) and follow the instructions. For video the green arrow. The basic idea is to copy the “embed” code next to the picture and past it into the message box where you want the picture or video to show. Video is a bit more complex and I still have trouble with it.
You want to save your video as an H264 file before hand so the cow wont have to convert it for you. You can do this from your render viewer. Click on save as…animation…QT video (easiest) and under options you can change the format to H264 (this basically compresses the file to about 15% of the original. Save the video where ever you choose. I upload my videos before I write the message because after you upload it the cow tells you to basically come back later while it converts the video. you’ll get an email telling you it is done. Click on the link and it takes you to a screen where you can view it. This is where you go to the “embed” to the bottom right… highlight it…copy it…now you can go to the forum write your message and past in the code which will show the video in your posting. Its kind of tricky, but it works!
Good luck, cant wait to see it!

Would you mind posting what you did so I can see what you were talking about? Its in this fashion that we all get better at this C4D thing!
