Thanks for the info on this, I didn’t know that , Do you have a link or info on what is good types of media to capture video on – like the differnt types of storage cards, hard drive etc.”Rick was referring to a video format, not a storage medium ––Standard Definition (SD) video as opposed to High Definition (HD) video. Secure Digital (SD) cards are fine for capturing video as long as you use a reliable brand with the recommended speed rating. I use Sandisk class 10 Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) cards in my camera.

You’d probably have better luck trying to connect them optically. But, yeah, you probably need to find a camera or recording device with video input.

[David Bartz] “I recently purchased a Panasonic GH2 to do video interviews. I didn’t have much time with it before I had to leave on business. I’m a little new to the DSLR Video world, having used a Sony DSR-300 in a previous life. My question is about exposure in Cinema 24P mode. In my short time with the unit, it looks like the only exposure controls were the ISO setting, and the rear dial which moved an indicator on the screen from -3 to +3. (what was this controlling?)
My question is: can you adjust the iris setting in 24P Cinema mode, or do you have to go to manual movie mode to make this happen?”
Hi Dave,
Great choice with the GH2. I’m loving mine! The -3, +3 that you saw is the Exposure Compensation Indicator. Basically, you use it to tweak your exposure when you are in auto exposure mode. I prefer to stay in manual exposure mode. If you depress (click) the rear dial, you will toggle between the iris and the exposure compensation. So, yes –you can adjust the iris in 24p mode. Don’t forget to turn the histogram on so you can have constant on-screen exposure evaluation. Don’t like the position of the histogram? Just touch it with your finger and move it wherever you like. Sweet. The GH2 is a killer interview camera. Let me know if you have any audio questions. I’ve got a good system worked out. Have fun!

[Michael Cinquin] “when I get the image upside down, after I’m tired of enjoying the change, I open up Aja Control Panel -> Control, change the “default video output” from Black (or anything) to test pattern, then back to its normal settings, and voila, the image is ok again.

I uninstalled the AJA Adobe plug-ins, then re-installed them without the After Effects plug-in. Everything seems OK now.

You never really own software. You only pay for the license to use it. If it helps you fulfill your creative longings or allows you to make a living –or both, then it is a worthwhile investment.
