Either way should work. Transcoding to DVCPro HD will obviously take up a lot more drive space.

I usually edit my GH2 1080p footage in a 720p timeline. It’s nice to have that extra resolution to use if needed.

If you get booed out of the theater, it won’t be because you shot in 720 instead of 1080. It will be because your story sucks. Make sure your story doesn’t suck.

I’ve been shooting a lot of interviews in 1080p this year and it’s great because I edit in a 720p timeline. I can change up the focal length just by scaling the video –I don’t have to worry about snap-zooming between questions. In fact, I shoot with a prime lens. It makes editing interviews a joy.

What is your price range? Is this a shoulder mount rig? If not, you could mount it on the camera shoe.

Whatever works for you. I like to shoot with a nice field monitor to minimize the need to tweak the footage in post. I’d rather spend the time perfecting the edit.
