[David Bispham] ” got info from Promise tech support concerning the noise level of their Pegasus2 R8. Here it is –
The Pegasus2 is very quiet.
Pegasus2 R4, Pegasus2 R6 and Pegasus2 R8 share the same noise level characteristics.”Mmmm. Unless they’ve dramatically changed something, I don’t believe it. My Pegasus1 R6 was supposed to be ‘very quiet’ too. It is way louder than my old Mac Pro tower was. If I were you I would definitely get the long TB cable and put it at a distance.

[Jeremy Garchow] “The consensus is to put the “original media” folder in your dock or sidebar from the original library.
This will give you finder access to the files.”
Nice. That works! Thanks, Jeremy.

[Charlie Austin] “That’s probably why. change any instance of a compound clip, and it changes every instance of the compound clip.”
Interestingly, the freeze frames created from the compound act in exactly the same way as the compound. They are labeled as still images, but they must be referencing the compound.

[Charlie Austin] “I realize this doesn’t help, but I’m not seeing that here, just tried it.”
It’s a compound clip in the secondary storyline. The freeze frames are based off the compound. Maybe that has something to do with it. I just tested it again; change the role of one clip and they all change.

You could get a GH3 for $1,000 now and down the road when you are ready for 4k, you can upgrade to a GH4 and use all the nice lenses you have been amassing.

[Jeremy Garchow] “why not search and select the keyword.
Compund those, then select everything in the index but the compound, make your adjusements, then break apart the original compund. “
I actually tried this, but oddly, the compound did not stay in place and ended up at the end of the timeline. I got scared and “undoed” it! I should probably duplicate the project before trying a bunch of unknown operations. Sure would be handy if an index selection could be inverted.

[Jeremy Garchow] “What are you trying to do with the clips you want to select?
“
I was able to go through the index and deselect the clips (one by one) I didn’t want selected and it’s a bit better than doing it on the timeline.Basically, there were some clips I wanted to precomp in order to add effects to, but others that I didn’t want to be affected (or “effect”ed).

March 14, 2014 at 9:56 pm in reply to: RAID 5 formatting for PROMISE Pegasus2 R6 12TB (6 x 2TB) Thunderbolt 2 RAID System for FCPX 10.1?[Bret Williams] “Mine did have to go through some routine that took all night though.”
My Pegasus R6 (6TB) took around 24 hours to get through the setup, which was waaaay longer than the instructions indicated. No problem, just unexpected and disconcerting.
