Pages 85 & 86 of the instruction manual describe how connect a hard drive to the HVX and copy over the contents of the P2 cards. You can then format your P2 cards and record new footage. No computer needed.

It would probably be best to write up an estimate as if it were a regular corporate client, then tack on a “friend of the family” discount so he knows he’s getting a deal. Even then, he’ll probably freak out and decide he doesn’t really need a video.

I’ve found someone who will be starting on my new website next week. Should be launched by the end of January. I’m pretty excited! The video content will all be Flash this time around. I’m going to be reworking/updating my reel this week.

I believe the DV8SB has 12 counterbalance presets. Did you play with those?

Depending on the project; Beta SP, Digibeta, DVD and/or various web formats. I think I finally hear you on the 24p at 29.97. You’re shooting 24p and the cam is adding pulldown on the fly to get to 29.97. Sounds good unless you’re shooting for compositing or chroma keying.

Looking at the Decklink and the Kona, neither seems to support 720p23.98. My plan is to shoot at 720p24, edit in the same and down convert to SD for broadcast. What am I missing here?
