I do this all the time. If you shot at 60fps in 24p mode, that gives you 2.5x slomo. In FCP, set your speed to 250% and frame blending to OFF. This will give you real time footage. I like cutting the clip up and going from real time (250%) to slomo (100%) when something cool happens (like a flip on the wakeboard).

The Sony EX1 is a great camera. I don’t think it shoots SD, though. You can always downconvert when encoding for DVD.

I’ve used the Lite Panels Micro several times and it’s better than nothing… but not by much. Low output, (with a spotlight effect) which dims significantly over the hour that your battery will last. You could try this: https://www.flolight.com/catalog/product/view/id/53/s/miclight/
It’s probably just as bad -for only $150!Jason Jenkins

Any 3D software package could do that… in the right hands.

[Sam Lesante Jr.] “I was looking at the micro from lite panel as on on cam light for my jvc gy hm100u. It runs on 6 AA batteries and it’s about $285
Does anyone know of anything comparable to this at a cheaper price?”

July 26, 2009 at 2:55 am in reply to: New to the business. Question about lavalier systems.[Mark Suszko] “You can now get digital transmit/receive units on the newly-assigned bands, and some of these have other cool features. One records inside the transmitter onto a removable chip, so even if the RF link is broken, you still have the clean audio. I think Azden makes one like that.”
Mark, you mentioned that technology once before and it really intrigued me, so I went googling but couldn’t come up with anything. Any more clues you can throw my way? I’m in the market for a new system since I accidentally left my transmitter behind after a shoot. (A $500 oops! What’s worse, it was a pro-bono shoot. Doh!) It sounds brilliant to have wireless and memory card recording in one unit.

[Chris Poisson] “The upgrades in no way added to my billable income. None of my clients ever said “Hey Chris, if you don’t have the latest FCP this job is going away.” I bought them just to try and stay current, which is a totally different need.”
“Staying current” is not a need. I’m still using FCP 5. Works great.
