The advantage with an actual teleprompter is that the script is displayed directly in front of the camera lens, so the eye-line is perfect. Some have used a laptop directly below the camera but it just doesn’t look right, IMO.

[Bruce Bennett] “Always do what you are passionate about and the money will follow.”

Thanks, Bruce. I needed to hear that!

I haven’t used it, but P2 Log Pro has a repair wizard that can apparently rebuild a valid P2 folder structure with appropriate XML metadata from as little as just the MXF files.

January 8, 2010 at 5:56 pm in reply to: Production rates for strictly online vids

I’ve got some local “competition” here that regularly sends out emails to local businesses. They have been promoting their “promotional video for as little as $500”! Emotionally and physically, I just can’t work at that level. I value my time and expertise too much. Add another “0” to that number and we can talk.

Well, got a babysitter and went to the theater with my hot date (wife); Avatar was sold out…

[Mark Suszko] “But I don’t see the death of 2-d any time soon, not till they perfect affordable holographic TV sets without the need for glasses.”

    I’ll second that!

[Ron Lindeboom] “But we all know that in the future, 3D will come from holographic projectors and that we won’t need glasses anymore.”

That’s what I’ve been imagining in my brain for a long time. I don’t know if I’ve seen anything with the Real-D system, but tonight I’m going to see Avatar, so we’ll see how it goes.

[Mark Raudonis] “I disagree. Have you seen AVATAR in 3D?”

I haven’t, but maybe I’ll be convinced when I see it tonight.

I think it will flop until the technology doesn’t require the special glasses.
