  • I know what you’re thinking with the distance joints and all that, but Newton doesn’t use animated scale. I tried just now to confirm my suspicions using aematic and kinematic, and even dynamic even though I knew it wouldn’t do anything.

I wish I could write a basic expression like you’re suggesting that works. I thought what you had written there was a functioning expression, but it doesn’t seem to work, just throws an error. Thanks tho 🙂

Well that’s good to hear. Reinstall sucks. Here’s hoping it gets resolved.

If you’ve been with Adobe products long enough you’re probably aware that the last ditch effort is to uninstall and reinstall, which sucks especially if you have plugins and scripts and all that setup, but that may be the thing that fixes your situation.

Can you try using another computer? It runs fine on both my PC desktop and my 2010 Macbook Pro. I’ve configured my desktop for optimal performance and disk caching (SSD), etc, but my MBP is pretty much on its own.

I was thinking if you could maybe somehow link the width of the scale to your image and then parent the whole image to the shape layer that ConnectLayers creates, then the image would move with the shape layer and if the scale matches the positions of Point A and Point B it might just work, but it’s too much math for me. I tried fiddling around with it and was only able to link an image to the shape layer and match the move in 3d space. Need to figure out a way to keep the perceived length as well.

Something screwy happened when I was typing the previous post. On my phone right now. I was trying to say import from windows explorer window is still slow so I use the AE import dialogue box.

I checked the thread I started on the AE forum and no one has chimed in there either. What I’ve been doing is using the import dialogue box e wobdoaws. I’ll see how dragging from the finder window on my mac works when I get home.

Do you have Element? Maybe use an environment primitive and apply a video of what you’re describing to the custom texture map for your external, and the rest you’d just have to build inside that. You have to scale the primitive up large enough that you’re “inside” it of course.
