Do you have the setting set to Standard (Final)? Is Cineware referencing your full version of C4D? You can check that in the Options in the effects panel. Did you accidentally switch to the Physical Renderer in C4D, becuase it doesn’t support the Cel shader as far as I’m aware.

  • Just a warning about using shape layers. Make sure you build them out of bezier shapes if you want to animate the paths. They still haven’t fixed the issue where the shape does a weird morph instead of animating after converting a parametric shape to bezier. Just check the “Bezier Path” box on the tool bar before making your shapes.

I did something like this with a photo recently just using levels. Have you ever done color correction with levels? If not, start with the red channel and pull the left and right side in just before the image clips and repeat with the blue and green channels. If all you want to do is get rid of the haze, put the levels effect on an adjustment layer and set the blend mode to Luminosity. You don’t need to go into each individual channel if that’s all you want, but if you want color correction too, which you’ll probably need when haze is involved, do the same on a separate adjustment layer and set the blend mode to Color. I hope that wasn’t too confusing.

Ok, this project is long over now, but I would really like to find a simple solution to this.

Basically just want the text to scroll and somehow create a text animator that affects the scale gradually going in and then out like in the image.

October 10, 2014 at 5:41 pm in reply to: Simple Plexus Question?

What you should probably do is put your logos in the comp instead of using Plexus sprites to render them. You’ll get better resolution that way too.

Set the logo layers all to 3D layers and use Plexus to connect the logos that way. Go to Add Geometry > Layers in the Plexus effects controls and set it to 3D layers.

You need to set the RAM allocation per CPU until the number of CPUs being used reflects the number of physical cores on you CPU. You might also need to adjust the number of CPUs reserved for applications to get the number of processors used to 4. Does that make sense? I believe Todd Kopriva suggested this in a thread once or maybe it was at an AE meeting.

Anyone? I usually get SOME takers.

  • My guess is maybe the graphics card driver? The GPU does drive the UI panels, text, AA, among other things (as far as I understand, and I could be wrong).

As this point I’d just retime it by hand. Some things you just have to do that way.

John’s describing what sounds like RD_compsetter, but that just extends the length of the layers and comps, not actually shifting their IN or OUT points. In case you’re interested, here’s Jeff Almasol’s website where he’s giving away all of his scripts in exhcange for your giving to any cause of your choosing: https://www.redefinery.com/ae/rd_scripts/
