    Thanks Kevin.

I installed the latest version and trashed the preferences and that seems to have done the job.

You are a saviour….I am very happy I don’t have to rebuild my fairly complex sequence in CS3 so I can deliver tomorrow. I am also happy that I can now enjoy CS4 with confidence that it wont let me down when I need it.

  • Hey Dan,

Thanks so much for this tip. It worked a treat. The ball rolls into the 3D set and as the camera flies through it looks perfect. I have left auto orient on though as it seems to work.

    Thanks again

I am not using lights or shadows. I am working in PAL Widescreen square pixel.

Since these problems I have done simple tests with two simple panels both rotated, and placed at different z depths. I did a focus pull from one plane to the other. In CS4 I get the error. In CS3 it works fine.

It seems there is some kind of bug in CS4 depth of field effect?

Is anyone having success with CS4 depth of field?

I realise this post is quite old but I am having problems with the depth of field too.

The setup I have is quite simple. It consists of a floor with a series of images standing up above the floor. The problem is occuring on text and image layers and each is at least 200 pixels from every other layer, yet I still have the problem.

    any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jason

I have since discovered that this problem is caused by the camera depth of field. As son as I turned this off the renders were sharp and artifact free.

But now I have no depth of field. Is this system faulty or am I missing something??

    Hey Trev,

I have made the logo sphere with the logo in the centre of the image to avoid it being pinched when creating the sphere.

I did pick whip the rotations but to put the logo in the correct place I have had to add “+126” to the end of the y expression and add “-45” to the end of the x expression. Due to these offsets the rotation is out on the y and z.

I either need a way to make a sphere with the logos in the correct place, or be able to use an expression to keep the logo in the correct place during rotation.

Ah so that is the answer. What is the point of giving out half a filter I wonder?

    Thanks for the tip.

I am having the same problem as the original poster. I was trying to do a tutorial from this website when I discovered that when I click the submenu within the Vanishing Point window I do not have any export options.

I am running Photoshop CS3 on a Macbook Pro 2.33g Intel Core 2 Duo with 3gig Ram.

I tried reinstalling both After Effects and Photoshop but it has made no difference. The only options I have in the menu are:

    Show Edges
    Show Measurements
    Render Grids to Photoshop
    Allow Multi surface operations
    Clip operations to surface edges

The last two options are greyed out.

    Hope someone can help!!
