    Hi guys,

I’m making a music vid in AE that uses a lot of arranged textures and depth of field. Sometimes, I get a glitch in some of the textures when I turn DOF on. It looks a little something like this…

Anyone know how I can solve this? It seems to happen on some textures but not others. If I can’t pin it down then I’m royally screwed…

    Thanks!

This happens when two layers are too close together in 3D space. If that door doesn’t move, you can precompose it with the wall texture. If you need to have it separate, you will have to move it further away from the wall until it doesn’t show the glitch.

This is caused by an imperfect algorithm for calculating depth of field of 2 objects that share the same plane, and are too close to each other.

Of course…simple stuff. Thought I’d positioned them correctly in the first place…clearly not!

    Thanks.

I realise this post is quite old but I am having problems with the depth of field too.

The setup I have is quite simple. It consists of a floor with a series of images standing up above the floor. The problem is occuring on text and image layers and each is at least 200 pixels from every other layer, yet I still have the problem.

    any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jason
