I just got a chance to download Desktop Video 8.6 and was pleasantly surprised to see the Auto File Increment feature has returned!
Major thanks to all the guys at Blackmagic…you’re a lifesaver!

I am also having this issue. I am often away from my keyboard and use a remote control to automatically start and stop capturing. If there is a means to automatically increment filenames I would desperately like to know what this is! I already tried using wildcards in filenames but the ME3 software won’t accept them.
I seem to have misplaced my old version of the software so unfortunately until I can come up with a viable workaround with ME3 my Intensity Pro is no longer a viable capture solution. Any help here would be much appreciated!

I am by no means the master when it comes to audio (I went to the school of Hard Knocks), but my understanding is that what you are hearing is the analog equivalent of a digital bitstream….i.e. the BMIP doesn’t have a decoder that can process the format, and once it’s no longer in the digital domain it can’t be decoded. You would hear the same thing if you were to put a DTS cd in a player without a digital (fiber optic) output going to a receiver that could decode DTS.
It is what it is I suppose, but at least we have a workaround that will allow you to do what you need to do. Best of luck with the gameplay footage!

As you’ve been discovering, the Intensity Pro is incapable of DD 5.1 and this creates a headache when recording footage from the Xbox 360. I have run into this issue myself and have come up with a semi-acceptable workaround.
Leave your xbox setup the way it is with DD5.1 running to your headset, but connect an xbox360 audio dongle to your xbox and run composite audio (red/white rca connection) to your Intensity Pro and adjust the Intensity Pro recording settings to allow for HDMI video/composite audio capture. The 360 will output audio over both connections at the same time. This way you can have your cake and eat it too.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
JasonP.S. The 360 has a bug where it will occasionally default to stereo output when you power up the 360, even though it is set for DD5-1. You can get around this by going in the dashboard to console settings/audio and switching it from DD5.1 to stereo and then back to DD5.1….the xbox will re-initialize the audio and you should be good to go.

Thanks Kristian I was pretty sure this was the case, but it’s nice to have confirmation. Now that I know what it will not do, when you have a moment can you give me the short-short version of how the Shuttle will go about recording 8 channel audio? Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Perhaps I’m confused, but my understanding is that if your device is outputting a compressed format such as Dolby or DTS you need to have an onboard decoder to translate the audio bitstream, such as the Hauppauge HD-PVR has. If the Shuttle is limited to accepting a lossless/uncompressed format such as LPCM I’m not sure how much utility I’ll be able to get from the device.
I’m still intrigued, but I guess I won’t make a final decision until I can find out a bit more. C’est la vie!

December 4, 2009 at 10:51 am in reply to: Long HDMI cable to Intensity Pro and CS4.2 workable?Hey William,
Just to reinforce what Joshua is saying I have been using my Intensity Pro with a powered repeater and 30′ HDMI cable (spec 1.3a) on a daily basis for about the last 6 months and have yet to run into a single issue.
