Thanks Tom as it’s difficult trying to sort thru all the misinformation out there, especially when you don’t have much of a background like myself. With that said and thanks to your advice, the Canon is on it’s way!
I’m hoping that my FCP6 Training Series Book will deal with “material input” like AVCHD.

Hey Tom,
Based upon my limited research and understanding, I’m under the impression that the AVCHD format when transcoded to the Apple ProRes 422 codec or the Apple Intermediate Codecormat may be difficult to work with in FCP 6, or may not work at all. I also read that it will also be 5x larger than the original but that isn’t too big of a concern.
If it’s possible to use a camera like the Canon Vixia HFS 100, then I think that’s what I’m leaning towards. I’ve got 1 17″ Intel Based MacBookPro as well.
