I don’t have the answer you’re looking for, but just a thought… maybe duplicate your sequence, and work on one as an experimental sequence and maintain the other sequence as your untouched sequence. So if you don’t like the filters you’re experimenting with, you still have your sequence intact. You could also nest your sequence, globally applied filters would be one step to add or delete.

I’m glad we solved it. Just remember that if you set up your project as Broadcast HD 1080i60 then that’s what you should export as.It’s okay to use export “Current Project and Canvas Settings” if you’re just running tests to preview your project, and it’s okay to work in a 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 res, as well as draft or normal render (in fact this will likely speed your workflow). Just make sure you switch these to Full res & Best Render Quality before your final output.

I use Mac’s built in Character Palette to insert bullets and other miscellaneous symbols…
Go to System Preferences>International>Input Menu & select Character Palette (and Keyboard Viewer if you like)… It’ll now appear as a little American Flag up in your Menu Bar that you can access with a mouse click.
I use this in conjunction with FCP and Motion all the time… lots of symbols to choose from.

Can you elaborate on why you turn autosave off? What if your project gets corrupted?

Draw a rectangle with the rectangular shape tool. Go to your Shape contextual tab (F4). Keyframe adjust either the First Point or Last Point Offset. If you drag the slider you’ll see the effect you’re going for…

Motion would be better, but if you stay in FCP make sure your Render Control and Video Processing in Sequence Settings are both set to Best.

The fix might be to use her sound bites and cover the footage w/ b-roll and gfx.

I worked on a very similar “inspirational” video about teaching and learning while I was working at a university not so long ago. Same dilemma, we had images but not much else to work with. We decided to incorporate famous quotes from brilliant minds like Plato, Einstein, etc… the quotes themselves were so inspirational that they carried the piece as much as the imagery…. it also allowed the pacing to be slower and have a nice musical melody to match it. Everything was done in AE and Motion so it wasn’t just a slide show, it was motion graphics head-to-toe… I agree with Mike – text or VO could help your piece quite a bit.
