  • Can’t be an OS issue as I’ve just tried the file thru 10.5.8 and FCP 7.0.3 and the file I want to output failed, although I also tried a file from a much earlier project and it burnt successfully.

I thought it could be because I had dropped still images into the timeline first, so I have started over with a 1080p 25fps clip first. Have just tested the first couple of minutes and it has failed.

    Pointing back to FCPX?

If anyone could try a test or let me know if they have burnt successfully I’d be grateful?

  • I just tried this using FCP 7.0.3 and it’s given me pretty much the same error! This was on a macbook pro 10.7.5, 3.06GHz intel core 2 duo 8GB. I used a ProRes 1080p file in the sequence, 25fps.

I’ve also tried a 720p version, that didn’t work either but gave a different error message something like : time out.

Is this pointing to the mac update?

As I understand it, and as Angelo has stated, Youtube and Vimeo re-compress your data, so you cannot ultimately control the final output ie. the data rate it’s delivered at. Giving them a high quality file to start with will give you the best chance.

Simon – I’m sure I’ve done all you have suggested during a job we were doing that had a looming deadline to try to improve our productivity. I will however do so again. We even upgraded to Lion in the hope it would help as some users were telling of improved performance. As I said earlier, we’re also having problems with FCP X so there could be other more serious issues, but the machine is relatively new and of decent spec…

We seem to have terrible problems with both Motion and FCP X. Motion quits/hangs/freezes almost after every thing we do – I had to get into the habit of hitting cmd-s after every change I made. FCP X seems very slow to change between projects, or when selecting an export option, and will often hang or become unresponsive when skimming or just moving the playhead, though usually will become useable again after some considerable wait for it, sometimes it never recovers. Sadly it don’t seem we’re having the same experience with Motion.
