Did you ever get an answer about selecting certain colored clips?

I’m on MC as well…and just came up with the same issue today! I love Creative COW!

I can’t figure out how to change the color of a clip according to the tape name. How did you do it?

OK…I have 1 second and 15 frames of an animated transition. (built in After Effects with keyframes) Frame 1 is my first keyframe of movement and frame 45 is my last keyframe of movement. At that point, the DVD links to a stillframe with all elements positioned correctly.

So if I render out to MPEG2 to the absolute first and last frame of keyframed movement…you’re saying that I won’t have any issues with the positioning matching up? Correct?

And I am doing fades to and from black…using 1sec of black before and after. This has seemed to work, just wondering if anyone had any more experience with something better.

I’m also doing motion graphics between menus and…from what you are saying…I won’t have an issue with any movement in my compression if I transcode right to the ending of the movements?

There is actually something strange…because when I do exactly what you said…

*Consolidate media*

I have clips that will not re-associate with the new project after consolidation. They remain associated to the original file.

(keep in mind for some reason I only have this problem with a few projects…I do this all the time and I’ve only had this problem twice since I’ve been consolidating media to prevent accidental deletion)

HERE’S THE CATCH:

If I first consolidate the media in project 01

Then open Project 02

*Consolidate newly consolidated clip*

It DOES change the project association.

I have tried everything I can think of. Trashing database files…consolidating with other projects. But for some reason I have a few projects that I can’t change the project association of the clip by doing a consolidation in a new project.

I’m working on an older Meridien board with MC v11.1

I appreciate the help…if you have any ideas. I can repeat a process more times than I should need to…but I just hate when things don’t work correctly. I like to try and figure it out.

I have an update to my issue.

I can consolidate the clip one time in the original project. Then open the 2nd project and consolidate the .new clip in the new project and it DOES change the project association!

How strange is that?

I just posted a new post on having a problem doing this. I’ve done it before…and I’m able to do it with some clips, but for some reason there is this one clip that will not consolidate with any other project association than the one it currently has.

This can be done through the menu when you right click (PC) on the clip.

That would apply the effect to ALL layers below it…and the layer needs to visible…correct?

I just wanted to add…as my company is looking to update editing facilities and going through the AVID/FCP debate…

Is there a huge gap in the fact that FCP can utilize blending modes in the timeline…and AVID cannot. I haven’t heard anyone address this specific issue, and was wondering if FCP can do it natively, or requires a special plug-in. I’ve heard of plug-ins that can do it through AVX in AVID.
