I like how easy it is to switch between proxy and how it is global, but I’d really like some kind of dialogue telling you when you share a “master file” that you are doing so in proxy mode. I’ve sent out final master flattened prores many times at proxy without intending to. There should be a dialogue that you can turn off if you want to.

Our delivery is custom on this project. We shot one piece that plays on 2 screens, one is 6750×1080 (5k Scaled by 132%) and the others are standard 16×9. My hope was to sent out pixels and not have black bars on my send out (letting the playback software do that).

It’s not a huge deal, I was just trying to understand it better

Hey Bill, thanks for the reply. You’re actually a little bit off of what I’m looking for.

I have a single event and a single project with media used from event to project. I can go to the timeline index and search the word “missing” and it comes up with every clip that has missing media. I go to the event and I can see exclamation marks on all the missing media but when I do a keyword search for “missing” In the event browser, it returns no results even though there are missing clips in the event browser. It seems like if it should do it in the timeline then it should also do it in the event browser.

Not sure about “quarter res” … the proxies were 2560×1080, the original 5K footage is 5120×2160.

Irregardless, it’s the ASPECT we are discussing. We have a 2.40:1 project option in 5K, but not in HD.

I personally think its a miss, but I don’t design software for a living. I just complain about it! 🙂

OK, so I didn’t realize there were import options in preferences…I thought that dialogue was only when importing.

So, if I change to “copy files to event folder” during one import, does it change the preference? Or is it just that single import that will override what my preference settings are?

Also, nice tip on alt+drag…maybe I should keep it off all the time, option drag when I want to copy items to event folder and always work out of finder+FCPX instead of using the import dialogue.

I was using clips from a folder, so I could do that.

I’m confused, because sometimes when I drag clips from finder to the
event, it copies the media to the event folder. I would rather keep
links, how is this determined?

Audio key framing in this app is really disappointing in my opinion, I haven’t found an easy way to move a group of keyframes or easily delete keyframes.

Skimming is fantastic way to preview…it gives you 2 options of interacting with the timeline of positioning actions (blade, inserts, trims) becasue with a simple depression of the “S” key you can use that location or the location of the playhead. It gives you so much flexibility.

In addition, the “clip skimming” function is AMAZING to see content inside of a composite without having to disable tracks to see below them. Now, I always keep my left hand on the keyboard for Q-W-E-S or cmd+1,2,3 for inserting.

Pressing the S key is simple, quick and easy and for the options it gives you…it’s an extremely easy way to preview clips. The double click and click and drag is a thing in my past…I’m smiling about that!
