If you have proxy MXF, then you are using XDCAM optical, right?

The TC is already in the MPEG4 that was recorded as a proxy. Use XDCAM Transfer and then in Quicktime Player, click on the time and select TC…you don’t have to reinvent the wheel.

XDCAM Transfer can pull off the MPEG4 proxies as MP4 or MOV wrappers (I can’t remember which one) in just a few seconds. I use this workflow all the time for transcriptions and interview segment selects.

    I figured I couldn’t be the first! 🙂

bizarre that they didn’t imagine people using 2 versions of their software at the same time? Especially since the new one can’t open the old one… ugh… this whole thing has me confused.

    Thanks again.

I did a quick search and found a helpful hint. When I tried to move the contents of the newly created folder with my FCS3 inside…it would only copy, I couldn’t move them out. Found a blog referring to changing permissions and unlocking that folder to modify. I had to copy, and now I have 2 copies…now I know how to get rid of the other copy! 🙂

  • Thanks…I’ll download 4.3

Nevermind, I had installed fcpx and it moved my fcs3 into a folder…preventing them from being updated. I moved them out and they updated fine.

  • [John Pale] “Are you sure you did not paste the sequence from one project to another?”

Absolutely, this is a standalone project that was started from scratch…in the browser. 2 Camera greenscreen that I’ve been very meticulous in building to keep things straight.

[John Pale] “Did these sequence clips ever link to the browser clips?”

    Yes

[John Pale] “Can you open up an older version of your project from your Autosave Vault where things did link up?”

    I’ll try that.

[John Pale] “Do some clips link or none of them?”

None of them are linking back to the browser

[John Pale] “that would be really cumbersome though”

It would be infuriating…it took me awhile to organize this. I’ll try an older project. that’s a good idea. Thanks!

  • repaired permissions and checked files on MacHD…only checked files on Media RAID (internal 3TB RAID0)

    Still experiencing same results.

  • How important is it to rebuild directories? Is just checking files and permissions good enough? For some reason I can’t boot from my DW CD…it kernal panic’s on bootup on my laptop. I haven’t tried my desktop though…

  • Thanks Shane and Raf…

Yes, clips imported into browser…then edited into SEQ. Now lost the links.

Is it better to run disk warrior or the Mac OS repair permissions?

    I knew I had done this awhile ago…so I did a search

You and Roland were both very helpful…I just don’t work in AFX enough…or with expressions, I only do it every once in awhile. That is why I love the COW!! And helpful people like yourself…

    Thanks again!
