Jeff, thanks for taking a look.
This is my exact process.
I cmd click to get marching ants selection around just the layer. To keep things simple, I delete everything else except the flattened layer, so I’m only working with one thing.
Select, Copy, Paste and it creates white box around layer.

just figured it out…I was searching clips, needed to search tags.

Honestly, one of the biggest things I have a hard time with is the nomenclature “projects” – is it a bird, a plane, or a sequence? Wait, it’s a PROJECT!??
Nothing was wrong with that name. Projects contained sequences…projects live in “project folders” of multiple “clients” now I have projects inside projects…it’s confusing. Maybe I’ll get used to it, but that’s been my struggle in getting into it.
I rather like the magnetic timeline, there are possibilities I see there that are very interesting to me as I continue to use it. Not the end all, be all…but a step in an interesting direction at least.

FYI, I do this alot and found fcpx natively in timeline can conform 60 to 30 in real slowmo…it’s not keyframeable (yet) but a step in a good direction.
