Well, I’ve downloaded the control panel and the firmware update, but I can’t figure out how to use it. It says “No Video.” My deck is set to “remote” and I have a tape in it. What next?

I bought the editor as a turn-key system from Promax. It supposedly has everything loaded and has already been tested by their techs. I’ve tested my mixer by plugging my deck straight into it and it is fine. I plugged a set of computer speakers into the mini jack on the back of the computer and got nothing. I have not tried downloading the control panel, but that is my next move.

Thanks very much. That explanation is very helpful.

What do you think of this configuration?

    G5 Power Mac Quad
    4 GB RAM
    2 TB storage (enough?)
    AJA Kona 2 Dual-link HD/SD Capture
Sony DSR-1500 DVCAM deck w/ SDI and component in/out
    FCP 5

will this allow me to edit uncompressed and output an excellent image?
Is it worth the extra expense for the quality increase?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jason

So in FCP, you must capture the DVCAM footage component?
Could you capture via firewire and still place the footage in an uncompressed timeline?

So if I output to BetaSP via decklink… I can output 4:2:2?

If so, how do I render my edits in 4:2:2?

Is it as simple as buying the Main Concept 50Mb codec?

I took back the NVidia card and got a Radeon X850 Pro.
    So far, so good.

The reason why I posted here is because I am a long-time PrPro user and have has a lot of problems with it. I have reason to believe my graphics card may be at least a part of the problem.

I need recommendations for a better card than what i currently have, which is the RAdeon 9000 Pro.

I don’t think it’s a heat issue, because I have a Thermaltake case with 6 fans, the raid drives are in coolers and my ram has cooler strips on them.

    Redgum,
When you say “Adobe Program”, do you mean the application (PrPro), or the Project? And are you saying it needs to be on its own drive, apart from the OS, media and scratch?
Also, if I put my media on my raid and preview files on another drive, does the second drive need to be as fast as the raid?
The raid transfers information at twice the speed of a normal 7200rpm drive.

It’s definitely the 500. I tried playing the tape on 3 other decks and had problems with all of them.
