I hit the ‘0’ key on my num pad to preview and I currently have it set to skip 10 frames during ram preview to make it smoother, I could do with a PC upgrade but I am managing ok with it for now and I also have to preview in quarter when my projects start getting big
    Thanks

Yes correct but comments such as ‘we would use standard AE terminology, and you wouldn’t know what we meant’ is a bit unnecessary, its not helping anyone by that point, if anything it just deters people from learning, rather than just explaining what he might now know as I feel thats the whole point of this community. But he never responded anyways so yeah

From what I have seen of Dave LaRonde on this forum he seems to be quite rude and patronising to a lot of people and I’m not sure why, maybe not to everyone but maybe its just to new people he doesn’t like

February 13, 2018 at 5:33 pm in reply to: Duplicating comps without affecting the original?

Very well said and yes its true, the pre comps within my main comp that I am wanting to duplicate are altered on both comps and you have just explained why. Its great to now understand how this all works, Im still struggling with this though and I will explain why
So as you see in this image I have a picture that is animated onto the screen with a watercolour effectw hich consists of many pre comps..

all i am trying to do is add an other image but on the left hand side and have it come onto the screen in the same animation, but to appear later on, when I try to duplicate the comp I cant have both pictures on the same screen as they are separate comps. I then tried to duplicate the specific pre comps but the issue is, is that the effect is over on part of the screen and to then duplicate the pre comps doesn’t work in this instance as I need the watercolour effect to happen twice at different times however it cannot, it happens once and then doesn’t work when you put the duplicated effect over the original if you understand? There is so many layers to trying to explain this its a headache to try and word it hahaha Im sorry for my awful explaining man

  • Thank you michael very impressive response I appreciate it

Very beautfiully described Blaise my friend, that is what I am wondering how to achieve, that ‘morph-y looking transitions between fast-motion and real time’ I am unsure how to use frame blending as it is an area of AE I am yet to delve into. Also I do pay for my After effects and photoshop subscriptions but I am far too young too be able too afford buying plug ins and things such as twixtor so I just get them for free ☺
I have used time remap alot and am very familiar with that but I feel the way hes used twixtor in this edit really adds alot to it, if you can show me any videos that might help me learn this Blaise Id really appreciate it my friend thank you ☺

I didnt know that changing the name of the comp would affect anything, I tried duping it in the project panel and that didnt work however I did not rename it, Ill have to try that out thanks for the advice
