  • If i remember right, somebody suggested dynamic link is not designed to go back and forward. So instead of making AE project out of selection in PP and then editing it in PP, create a project in AE and than import it to PP, i think…

To be locked or deleted, found a reason why this is happening. To keep things simple, and not to confuse anyone, I feel like there’s a need for a new thread.

Can I somehow change the thread name to “animated matte” – it will be more accurate?

Heres the tutorial for Pr Dynamic Link workflow:

If I get it right, as long as the changes made in Ae are visible in Pr the dynamic link works and I did everything right. The changes are visible, but when I animate the matte there is some strange vertical offset, even though the frame size and position has not been changed. I wonder if this is an error of some sort, or am I missing something.

  • I went for the feathered matte in AE. Immediately there were some problems, which I will be posting in the AE forums in a few minutes.

  • Thanks a lot for the response

I have to say I am new to color spaces, calibrating and color bars. I always thought all I had to do is to calibrate my display with a calibrating device, create a color profile in calibration process, load it at startup and I’m done. The more I try to understand how it all actually works the more confused I get. By the way my display is calibrated to 2.2 6500 is that ok? Can you direct me to some online instructions on how to calibrate to color bars?

You said “premiere pro is working in adobeRGB And Vegas is just following whatever settings the video card is set to” Footage displayed in Adobe is darker, has more saturation and contrast. All that is done only by different color space?

  • I really am confused

There is a thread with an unanswered question, weather or not using a colour profile for a “windows secondary display preview” in Vegas with a profile loaded at startup by windows itself (option you set up in advanced display properties) does result in colour correcting twice

    1. I disabled loading a profile at startup and previewed with “windows secondary display preview” with a colour profile. The footage looks the same as in normal preview window

    2. With a profile loaded at starup I previewed with “windows secondary display preview” with a colour profile and the footage seems to look the same as in 1. The footage in “Video Preview” is corrected with everything else that is displayed

Based on that experience only I would say loading a colour profile with a “windows secondary display preview” seems to compensate for the correction done by profile loaded at system startup.

As I said before I really am confused. I would really like to understand how it works

All of that doesn’t change the fact, none of the preview options displays the footage like Premiere Pro Does

  • Dear Jon

I use a single display. On the same display Veags and Premiere display the same frame in a very different way. The issue seems to be software related.

Looking for a solution I did a jpg (Save Snapshot o File…) of a 100% size full quality frame in Vegas. When I open this file in Premiere it is displayed exactly the same way as in Vegas, and the same way as the same frame from m2t file in Vegas. As I mentioned before the same frame from m2t file is displayed in Premiere differently!

    Any ideas why?

  • Calibrating with EyeOne PRO isn’t that difficult at all, but let’s stick to the issue

To keep it simple let’s say I use only one LCD display. The issue doesn’t seem to be display related, since on one CRT display I have the same inconsistent results.

Previewing method I use is the Video Preview window you get when you open Vegas. If I understand it right, the Vegas color management option you are referring to works only with dual display environment which I do not use.
