January 3, 2017 at 2:02 pm in reply to: Is Adobe simply trying to plug holes in a sinking ship?I’m staying with CS6…. After CS6 Beta was disbanded, the infamous V6.0.4 was issued without beta support… It was a disaster, and much complaining here was done until they released V6.0.5
On one hand I keep hearing how CC is good, and another how different year versions of CC are bad and to be avoided….
And I just keep Dynamic Linking to Encore from PPRO, as if it was entirely normal to do so……
I’m staying with CS6

Yes… I agree…. With what you posted!!!
(Actually, After 3 attempts of writing a couple paragraphs of answers… Regarding Beta Tester’s, Rental Software, “Cloud”, and other subjects….. All of which I deleted as being too argumentative… I decided just to post the 7 words above, and assume all who knew me would understand….) Happy Holidays and Happy 2017!!!

Another vote for not adding labels to CD’s, DVD’s, or BR’s…. Has caused me nothing but trouble…

November 27, 2016 at 12:03 pm in reply to: Blu-Ray Diagnostics Say OK, But ERROR Message – Someone Translate ?I had a somewhat similar issue… Diags said fine before burn, but after burn chapters and end actions were ignored on one of multiple menus… Check for my thread above this….
Re-building menu from scratch (even though it didn’t act up prior to burn) fixed the problem after burn…

November 14, 2016 at 1:27 pm in reply to: Long timeline (PPRO Dynamic Link) Won’t see added chapter stop & ignores End ActionThe project has been troubleshot and is now finished…
The problem with a certain timeline ignoring chapter stops and end action was found to be from NOT the Video on the Timeline, but the MENU that pointed to the timeline….
Re-Building the Menu, with the same attributes as the First (Corrupted) Menu, Linking the Timelines and other Menu’s to this new Menu fixed the problem.
I was never able to exactly determine which part of the (Corrupted) Menu was the culprit, and I spend an hour comparing all the settings within that menu compared to the other 2 menus (the New one that fixed it, or the Sub Menu that worked originally). Each of the Menus were copies of the other, with different text and pointers…. But the nice part was that once the menu was deleted, then rebuilt, it worked correctly after being burned to disc.
The disconcerting thing was that it would pass all tests and operations PRIOR to burn, and only fail AFTER the burn was done.
SO…. In the future, if you come across a project that Passes All Diagnostics, and Plays Correctly Prior to Burn… But After Burn ignores chapter or end actions…. Concentrate on re-building the Menu…

November 13, 2016 at 10:53 pm in reply to: Long timeline (PPRO Dynamic Link) Won’t see added chapter stop & ignores End ActionAnother update… Has Nothing to do with video layer on Timeline… It has something to do with the main menu… Back to using PPRO DL Sequence as video, and I’m slowely but surely re-building the menu, one layer at a time, to see which layer: Menu, Background, or Buttons, or, combination of one or more, is causing the Next & End Action to be ignored….
Edit… Slowely but surely, I’m rebuilding and testing a new Main Menu… Rendering and Burning one step at a time, to try and find out what happened..
So far, so good, first with replacement menu, and then added motion background… I’m waiting for button copy and paste render/build.Assuming that I’m out of the woods, the unfortunate thing is: there were no errors indicated before the build/burn!
Thank Goodness I’m not up against a deadline….

November 13, 2016 at 5:14 pm in reply to: Long timeline (PPRO Dynamic Link) Won’t see added chapter stop & ignores End ActionTrials and Tribulations continue…
Went back into PPRO and exported as H264 footage… 2 ways: 720P and 1080i….
Back in Encore replaced PPRO Dynamic Link Sequence with 720P transcode… Prior to Burn “NEXT” and “End Action” of this timeline works, but after I burn BR, it fails on Hardware and Software Players (Next is low tally, end action does nothing (black).
Now I’m going back and trying 1080i video…Got me why this is doing this, but it sure is!! Pre Burn Check shows no errors…. Pre Burn software test works fine…
Burn the BR disc and on BR Hardware and Software Players, neither Next Chapter on Full Play works, nor End Action… Just this one timeline…. Works fine on other (7 other timelines on Sub-Menu work fine on ‘Next Chapter’ and End Action)

November 4, 2016 at 1:10 am in reply to: Blu-Ray with Encore: Dramatic Gamma Shift HappeningBefore I retired I was doing support for Avids, and compared to Premiere, which automatically configures RGB vs. YUV on input, Avid’s Don’t…
When you export from Avid, my guess is you’re doing RGB export…. That will cause issues as you saw… Go back into Avid and export YUV colorspace… Betcha that will then work fine!

The symptom (automatically playing Button #1) when a jpeg was placed on video path, was so strange… It displayed perfectly, so who would know it was that? I thought after I’d found the cause, that it might be nice to post about it to prevent someone else from falling into the trap I just had… I just assumed that the MPEG thing from 2nd occurrence was the MXO2 MPEG Codec issue, as screen went black. There again, posting it gives info to other’s about a bug we’ll have to live with!

That looks to be an 10 bit/8 Bit issue.
10 bit video displayed on 8 bit device will do exactly that…
Since you saw it correctly prior to render, what you saw it on was 10 bit.. Could it be the render outputs only 8 bit?
