Hi John,

I can full understand your annoyance. And I would like to add to color the situation in, that there is only one receiver that has two channels and that is the one made by Lectrosonics. The other two that I am aware of are only single channel and those have been available the longest, say 6 years on the Sennheiser and 5 years on the Azden. Lectrosonics came up with the 2 channel receiver after your camera was off the R & D table. The salesperson that sold you the camera should have known or if they didn’t know they should have asked Panasonic, or at least look in the Ops manual. I know it is disappointing to think you have something all figured out and have that not be true.

Wish it were different, and who know maybe those extra connectors reall do go somewhere, time will tell.

Hi Chris,

Just like the focus tool on the 200 takes a bit to get used to, so does the histogram. Between it and the peaking I can indeed hit focus, and yes the subject was moving. The reason that I like the Histogram is that it doesn’t get in the way of the composition of the image.

All of the cameras are single channel. Lectrosonics has been talking with the factory, but there is no gaurantee that a software upgrade with bring two channel capability to the unislot. If it were easy it would have been done by now.

If I were to make a bet on which cameras it could happen with, I would say the 2000 and the 3000, but I am not a betting person, so I only bet on sure things. This is not one of them.

I will say though that if you use the Histogram display you should have no trouble focusing. Additionally keep the peaking on in the VF and LCD. I am able to hit focus everytime.

Hi,

It might be depending on the lens because the current foam does fit the 900, the 500 and the 2000, 3000, but I do know the the lens choice can position the camera just a bit differtly than the one we had on the camera. Why not just finesse the foam a smidge with a razor blade?

We do have another case that is larger from Pelican that will also hold a P2 Gear, a 9″ monitor and the RC10 that will also fit the 2000 camera, Its model number is the SHAN-HPX500. Fully loaded it is 70 lbs. But its nice in that when you ship the production case, you have everything in one case.

The HDX900 does not have two channel capability from the unislot. It is only able to do one channel.

Hi Jeremy,

I think one of the most powerful parts of the workflow is the metadata upload feature which you can do from either the P2CMS P2 Viewer or the P2 Log programs. This would give you the ability to come back in from the field with the clips already named like you mention above.

Then by using the Raylight as the interface for ingest and transfer, it can be a very powerful tool in sorting your clips based on User Clip Names. The way they worked the Iditarod this year is that they named the metadata files after each of the checkpoints. Raylight ingesed from 10 different cameras and cards clips that were recorded with the metadata files and it sorted clips into folders based on the metadata.

I think that initially it seems odd to have to use the Raylight but the fact that it maintains the metadata is the most intereting part because that is the power behind the file based workflow.

I am in the process of writing a paper describing how to go about this, and am willing to share it, trust me it is not finished, just contact me offline and I will send you a rough.
