  • I have the same Camcorder in the PAL version and I have captured 16×9 PAL fotage via the DV anamophic easy set up. It worked flawlessly. Try that setup. Remeber your camcorder as to be set up as DV not hdv, but you can se it on the light on the wheel at the site.

Looked at the presentation videos on Apple.com looks like Francis and Walter Murch has had access to a version for quite some time. With luck they have been able to help Apple removing a lot of the bugs. I personally like the fact that the markers moves when you delete something from the time line. A mistake which did cost me a lot of time in the first version of studio. I also like the new noice level tool i soundtrack. I gather you didn’t know about the release of Final Cut Studio as well.

Wau Richard thanks for the Info regarding Compressor. I had a similar problem until I became aware of the possiblity of creating a setup with 32khz. That part works flawlessly for me. I was how ever not aware of the possiblility of upscaling the Audio from 32khz to 48khz via compressor. I will definitly use that tip when I need to move my finished home project to a DVD.

you do not write if you have mediadrives installed in your machine. You cannot run 3 HDV tracks on the same drive you are running the operating system and software. The operating system has first priority The software has second priority your Video filze has tird priority. Moving them to a seperate mediadrive og raid moves them from tird on the systemdrive to first priority on the new mediadrive drive.

I thought about your first suggestion and did place a start marker. But Final Cut indicated that it would discard the marker. I am trying to reexport it with an extra marker just to see if it makes any difference.

July 29, 2008 at 1:58 pm in reply to: Canon XH-A1 HD Work Flow

I found the following on Apples website
    HDV Workflow Improvements
The following HDV Easy Setups should be used specifically for capturing footage in Canon HDV 1080F24, 1080F25, and 1080F30 formats:

    HDV – 1080p24 FireWire Basic
    HDV – 1080p25 FireWire Basic
HDV – 1080p30 FireWire BasicHDV Workflow Improvements

it seems like 1080p24 FireWire Basic is the way to go acording to the release note.

I have the european version of the same camcorder, but haven´t filmed in 1080F yet only 1080i But I am planing on testing 1080F to see how it looks compared to 1080i on a LCD display.

April 21, 2008 at 7:33 pm in reply to: Faster Render

Haven´t tried Qmaster my self but your setup of 2 identical machines might be as close to the Ideal combination as possible. I read about someone trying to setup a 2 Macs in Qmaster. One of the machines was the latest and greatest. The other was 2 or 3 year old. As I recall rendering through the Qmaster setup was slower than rendering through the faster of the 2 machines. The problem was that Qmaster split the job in 2 equal sizes. The faster machine finished its part way before the slow machine hit 50% and had to wait until the slower machine has finished. With 2 identical machines that should not be a problem but the only way to find out is to test it.

The Macbook Air might be overpriced and underpowered and for the look what I have freaks but the company I work for sold 2,5 times as many of the New Mac Pro in In the 3 weeks it was available in January compared to the Old Mac Pro in December. Apple is earning quit a lot on each Mac Pro. Selling twice as many Mac Pro from January to April compared to last september to January will have a very positiv impact on their buttom line. The Mac pro is not a giftitem for chrismas but something you buy when you need it.
