I NEVER get those gremlins. Just the “weird things happening that can’t be explained kind”.
Please send yours over. I could use some that do things CORRECTLY while I’m gone.

Well, that wasn’t it. I had duplicated the project from a previously (working) project, and the parameters stayed the same.
I’ve just laid them into the timeline differently and it’s working, so I’m moving on. I don’t know why they don’t dissolve correctly when laid side-by-side and the dissolve laid across. But they do work when laid on separate tracks and the dissolve added to just one clip, so I’ll go with that.
gremlins.

OK, Great info! Thanks, Herb. I thought you used the PP multicam function to sync it. I can definitely use PluralEyes then create the multicam sequence from there. Or at least I think I can!
Thanks again.

Thank you so much, Herb!
Actually, that’s exactly what I did–I just did all the consolidation manually. I’m using pluraleyes to sync again. But do you have any idea why it did this? I’m assuming, from the tutorials, that the multicam function is precisely for this purpose, to be able to view multiple angles from different cameras. Do you have any idea what I could have done wrong that made it see each shot as a different camera? The clips are numbered sequentially for each camera, and the names of the cameras are different. I’m just confused!

Sadly, and surprisingly, not true. I did that early on, and it needed rendering. probably because it’s on alpha, and thus, like a cross dissolve, needs to be rendered. or something.
sigh.

March 13, 2013 at 2:15 pm in reply to: Strange Bedfellows: Final Cut 6, Mountain Lion, Canon 5d Mark iiThanks for the info. I use Final Cut 7 at work, and haven’t wanted to invest in an upgrade for the little I do at home. Esp. since we’re NOT moving to Final Cut X.
I’m good with Mountain Lion, and we’re in the process of switching over to Premiere at work, so I think that’s the way I’ll go. No use throwing away money on old software.
Thanks guys!

ok, but the movie from the panny looks squashed in the compression you recommend. i’m thinking this won’t undo itself when i reconvert.
wondering if i can’t just reconnect the media to the original files after finalizing the edit, then output.
i can upload a sample of the conversion you recommend if you like.

ok, sorry. i was working in the mini timeline, not the layers window. drag and drop works fine there.
