I recently shot a multicam situation with two sony hd-11’s (ACHD codec, 1080i, 1920 x 1080, apple intermediate code, square aspect) and one panasonic p2 (dvcpro hd 1080p30 codec, 1280x 1080, hd aspect).

can the panny footage be converted to something that works for mulitcam in final cut, or does it all need to be reformatted. and if so, what do you recommend for a format to use in final cut?

i’m thinking i can reconnect to the original media once the edit is finalized. right?

When you are done, export a self-contained or Reference QuickTime Movie. In Compressor you can create a M2v and ac3 file for DVD. You can also create files for the internet.

ok, but the movie from the panny looks squashed in the compression you recommend. i’m thinking this won’t undo itself when i reconvert.

wondering if i can’t just reconnect the media to the original files after finalizing the edit, then output.

i can upload a sample of the conversion you recommend if you like.
