    Thanks for the help.

So to confirm if i do all my design in 720×540 sq. pixel in Photoshop, i’ll be ok dropping the 720×540 sq pixel After Effects comp into a 720×486 rectangle pixel comp and scaling down to 90% to render.
Just to let you know i’m only using photoshop layers, no video footage.

Thanks again, it’s great to be able to get advice from people!

    ahhh i see.
I’ve also just read that people design in 648×486 square pixel comp before they drop into a 720×486 non-square comp, is this the same as designing in 720×540 square pixel and dropping it by 10% like you said?
    Cheers

    Hi,
If i’m animating alot of elements to complicated music I’ll put my audio onto the timeline in Final Cut Pro, and i’ll manually write down ‘key frames’ on a piece of paper as I storyboard. It can take some time depending on your music but it’s worked really well for me. Give it a try maybe…

June 27, 2006 at 4:00 pm in reply to: Photoshop to After Effects for 16:9 widescreen UK

    Hi,
    Thanks again for the info.
You said “Leave everything as square pix 1024×576 during the design & animation stage. When complete, put the finished comp into a new 720×576 widescreen comp and render.”
Would I just drag the layers into a new comp….
And i unserstand when i render out i’d render at 720×576 animation compression, or uncompressed.
When i view this final movie will it look squished on my computer, but obviously ok once viewed on TV?
    Cheers

I’m not using any DV footage, just cut out graphics in photoshop, animated in After Effects…although i fear i’ve messed up the settings through out.

  • I’ve been told that my final output should be uncompressed quicktime and then ‘they’ will transfer it to beta tape.
Thanks for the info, you’ve been a great help.
Is there anything else i need to consider?
    Thanks for everything.

  • Thanks for the help. Greatly appreciated.
    So…

    Photoshop:
    16:9 1024×576

    After Effects:
    768×576 square pix composition or
    720 x576 widescreen?
You said when I export from After Effects I shoud stop using Square pix?
768×576 appears to be the default export setting if i use 768×576 as my comp setting(unless i stretch)….
So i take it i should use 720×576 comp setting which would enable me to render out as 720×576 uncompressed

    FCP:
If i need to export as 720 x 576 16:9 Uncompressed what should my project settings be? Should they be 720×576 PAL 4:3, that seems to be my only relevant option, or should i click the 16:9 anamorphic button?

    Sorry it’s long winded…
    Many thanks again!
