  • Graham, For us it will copy the bin but not the subclip name and not the tags.

We also have seen that if we have subclips, tag them, save the program, close it down, open it up, the tags are gone! Does it almost every time.

very strange and slowing us down…

Thanks again. At least we know something strange is happening. James

  • Graham, It does copy the bin.

However the two things it DOES NOT DO is:

It does not keep the name of the subclip we gave it. We make the name of the subclip descriptive so we know what the clip is about.

It does not copy the media tags we set up.

Would you mind naming one of the subclips in the bin and tagging it and see if when you transfer it to another project, it copies that info too?

Thanks for looking into it. James

September 5, 2012 at 4:00 pm in reply to: QUESTION: Does your Vegas crash often?

I’m running Win7 64bit. In my compatibility mode I have the options:
    Windows Server 2008
    Vista
    Vista service pack 1
    Vista service pack 2

And that is it. No Win7…

Any suggestions to which one or change the configeration to have more compatibility options?

    Thanks, James

My Vegas Pro 11 crashes all the time too. Can’t figure out why. Updated video graphic cards many time. Still pretty much same thing. Very frustrating. Sometimes it is the simplest thing like open the built in cg program and it will crash.

It is a really a big problem for me. James

I am back from my event.

Here is more information about this unusual challenge.

I loaded a trail version of Sony Vegas 11 64 bit on a friend’s i7 64 bit computer. All the files played.

I then uninstalled the 32 bit Song Vegas as Mike had recommended installing. and uninstalled the 64 bit Vegas. After reinstalling the 64 bit program, Vegas played and showed the files correct – both video and audio. I thought the problem was solved.

I closed the program, took the laptop to my hotel room, reopened Vegas a short time later and got error messages – at that point it said for the video “media offline” but was showing the audio waveform. It was the same MXF file that had both video and audio!!!

Then the program would no longer show any of the video – just the waveform of the audio of MXF files I dropped on the timeline.

Very strange. I am in contact with Sony support services. I was driving yesterday and not in front of the laptop so will call them today.

I will report back, especially if we figure it out. I will be leaving in a few days for another video shoot and might end up getting a different laptop… I just need something that works and I don’t have to spend a lot of time getting it to work…

    Thanks, James

  • I have a post in that I can not see the video files using NVidia GeForce GTX 670M video card in a laptop I just got. I also get an error message that NewBlue Pro Titler does not support my current GPU!!!! See my earlier post about the challenges I am experiencing.

John, I’ve edited both the Canon MFX files and the Nanoflash MFX fies on my 64 bit desktop with Sony 64 bit, without any problems.

I also can edit the footage with Sony Vegas 10, 32 bit without any problems. I am in the middle of an event, trying to figure this out.

    Thanks, James

I have the Canon XF Utiity program. That program imports the files fine. I do not believe there is another program needed for Sony, but I am missing something. Is there another program or codex you are referring to? James
