im having the exact same problem. except its with a 2 hour wedding video project and it takes 10-12 hours at a time to render. And yes, FCP just decides ‘hey i need to render it all again’ as the footage (with the smoothcam) needs rendering

Ive been soaking up a mixture of posts from here and tutorials from apple.

Is what id done correct…

Start with an EasySetUp for HDV.

Capture my footage.

Use Media Manager Recompress into ProRes to a separate location.

Then open up the new project, having double checked that the compressor settings for the sequence are ProRes.

Have also changed the render control options to set to ProRes also.

ive recompressed everything to Prores 422 (MBP duo 2 with external hd couldnt playback HQ)… but i see.

Sounds kinda too good to be true, but ill def take your word for it 🙂

yes this worked the best for me thanks…

selected the clip in teh viewer, marked the in point on the clip, changed the speed. And then on the time line, marked in and out then dropped in the footage using teh red ‘overwrtite’ feature.
