  • I know that you can do a “side by side” 2 box effect. The primary source for any effect is determined by your selection in the main input menu of the Input Setup panel. The second video source is designated by the Effects Row selection in the switcher.

I’m not familiar with the Boston market, and the cost of living, but it sounds to me like you got a pretty good gig for a recent grad. I don’t know too many busy editors that work a 40 hour week. Are you going to be paid for OT?

    I will try that…thanks, Daniel
I copied and pasted the edit to a new sequence and sent to Compressor.
It just finished, and says successful. Is it technically better to do it the way you suggested?

Will Toast 9 work for this? I see Blu-Ray video in the list of Video options for Toast9…any reason why you have to be using Toast 8? (or is it Toast 8 or later?)

    Thanks,
    James

I’m on year number 6 with the original bulb in My Rifa light. I use it a lot, and probably don’t wait long enough to pack it up and move to the next set-up. I really need to do the retro-fit to CFLs, as a lot of my projects deal with energy efficiency. Don’t fear the Rifa! (More cowbell)

I do a lot of video work with electric utilities, and have been in on some wind turbine construction. I doubt if the hub is at 1000ft, cause that would be one huge-arse wind turbine. Probably between 200 and 300 ft. As suggested, a boom truck with a bucket is a great help on this type of shoot. Stability is an issue as they tend to bounce with any weight shift. In FCP the “smoothcam” feature can do a decent job of getting rid of the “bucket bounce.” The bucket truck will enable you to get some nice crane shots as you move up or down. Since you will have access to the maintenance guys, I would look at having them rig a lipstick camera (or something small) to the hub, to get another interesting vantage point of the repair work. FYI..There is a cool video of a wind turbine project that went wrong on YouTube..(Waverly, Iowa)

Isn’t the traditional TC superimposition feature for playback mode only? If he needs to provide TC monitoring while in the record mode you might need to run your video output through a Horita TC inserter box, or something similar. I’ve seen the Horitas on E-Bay..I sold mine.
