June 21, 2012 at 11:24 pm in reply to: problems with Canon 5D mark iii import into Premiere Pro 5.5 on pcYes, it’s in my second post up there. You rename the .mov file to .mpg
Then PP 5.5 can import it no problem.
I’ve been using CS6 for awhile now so I haven’t had to do this anymore.

I too have been editing on the Avid for 20 years and switched to PP.
so I am used to only using the JKL keys.
JKL gets you only so fine a control over playback. It’s easy to say that I should just buy a shuttle control – and perhaps I will have to now.
When you’re scanning through a lot of dialog, it was nice in PP with the shuttle because you could go at a speed and still be able to understand what they were saying. the first double tap on the L is too fast.
Perhaps they could program that speed for half that amount in the next release. That would be good. -
I’m going to assume it’s not possible. Anyone know any different?

If you google it, you will find lots of them. I’m not in front of my work computer now so can’t tell you the name of the one I’m using.

April 25, 2012 at 6:31 pm in reply to: problems with Canon 5D mark iii import into Premiere Pro 5.5 on pcOK I just read about this work-around on the Adobe forum. Remane the .mov files with .mpg extension. This “fools” PP into thinking it’s a different codec. It does work!
Apparently this is a CS5.5 thing. -

April 25, 2012 at 1:36 am in reply to: problems with Canon 5D mark iii import into Premiere Pro 5.5 on pcWe captured with the IPB codec (which I think is the same one used in the mark ii), not the new ALL-I codec. Tomorrow we’ll do more tests with both. If no one else is having this problem, I wonder if the camera is bad?

Yes thanks that does work!! Mainly I wanted to get the timeline on the right monitor so I could expand it.
The look is surely different than the previous version but I’ll get used to it. -
Thanks Steve.
I think Boris should aspire to be every bit as powerful as After Effects. It is there in many ways, still needs some work though. -
That was the point of my original question. I have a 38 frame animation of a butterfly’s wings flapping. If I do what you say, I would have to replicate those frames over and over for the length of the project. 30 to 40 seconds. I have to believe there is a better way. But as this thread has proven, there must not be.
Thanks for taking the time to respond I do appreciate all the help. -
I do see the loop option like you say if I render the animation and then bring it in. The problem with that is that it is then no longer in the 3D world. I wanted to turn this and have 3D control of it while it flew.
I have settled for rendering a movie and then looping and flying it that way. I will assume then, that Boris just cannot do this.
Thanks for your responses and help, I have learned a lot with this!
