If you have an application that handles Arabic text correctly, maybe you can get by with image files until better support is added directly. Does PhotoShop handle Arabic correctly? If so, export a PSD with an alpha channel. Or screen capture the text from an text editor app, then process through PS.

Digital Juice has some fancy fonts that we use sometimes. But you can’t use them directly in Media100. I have to use their Juicer app to type it up and then save out an image file to import in RED.

I’m not sure if it’s the same as BCC7 or not.

You can experiment with markers types and input channel settings. Having markers that stand out from the background is helpful. Could be a green circle with a black border, or a white circle with a black border, or a white circle with a black center. With lots of camera movement, small targets can get blurred out, you lose your luma & chroma contrast and your track.

I haven’t tried LED targets but it’s another option to consider. Each set up may require something different.

In one experiment, I did try tweaking the image’s contrast & levels to separate the markers more but it’d didn’t yield better results for me in this case.

    Here are my advanced settings.

I don’t know if it matters but I had “draw centers” turned off in tracker4 when I grabbed the screen shot for the previous post. Here’s one with the centers turned on.

I played around with the video you posted on vimeo. I’m using RED5. After tweaking the tracking targets, I got a pretty tight tracking without sliding off the trees.

I kept 3 of the targets smaller. The lower left was skipping more so I enlarged the area to include the dark spot on the tree, below your marker.

You may want to experiment with coloured markers. Addition targets can help too, have two or three white targets in each corner. Or a add a strong black border around the edges of your targets.

I have not tried exporting 16:9 stills from Media100Suite2.1 yet.

I just tried exporting a 1280×720 still from inside a RED5 project and that was ok.

I experience problems with aspect ratios in Suite2.1 & RED5 when importing stills. Sometimes they import ok but when I apply & render, the aspect ratio changes. While sifting through settings, I somehow found if I turn deflickering on/off then re-apply & re-render, the aspect ratio problem corrects itself. It’s annoying but not life-threatening.

In the monitor window, I used to have a button in the upper right that would let me turn safe title guides on/off. I just noticed that it’s not there now. Maybe something related to switching over to Lion? Is there somewhere else that I can turn the guide feature on/off?

    Thanks.

I see a RED 5.1.2 for Mac update on the Boris website. Can that be used with Media100 Suite too or only premiere?

Apple did drop support for PPC apps so people will need to replace those with intel versions.

I’m upgrading from 10.6.7 to Lion. I’ll take it to 10.7.2 and wait for Media100’s acceptance before going further.

I forgot to mention that we’re using Media100 Suite 2.1.
