shane,
thank you so very very much!
i did make sure, however, to not shoot 24pN as i knew i was not importing at progressive, although i had thought 24p meant 24p… i discovered on this camera it does not.
it does import with a pull down, into fcp, as it says so, as 23.9…
is this weird?
sincerely,
jaenet

actually what i did wrong was to turn off the computer before ejecting the p2 card no names. that’s what i did, not pulling out the cable.
i reformatted the two p2 cards, but when it comes time to down load via 1394 device, to the lacie rugged 500 hd, the two p2 card slots blink orange.
is this salvagable? if so how? or have i just blown out two p2 cards?
thanks,
jaenet

wow,
thank you for the suggestions! i have one polarizing filter and can get a second. i know what you mean about setting them at 90 degrees to each other. or something close.
but there wasn’t a burn out problem with the chips inside the camera? i was warned there would be, when i was shooting a different welder with my canon rebel (still camera). but that was after the fact. so if i blew out stuff, i blew out stuff.

well, no, that bar didn’t cover my buttons. but somehow, they vanished! i find if i select “open clip in new window” the buttons are in THAT window.
the buttons don’t appear in the clip window if i double click on a clip. only if i click on “open clip in new window.” don’t know what i did. wish i could undo it, but just one more blip to deal with.
thanks for writing!

thanks jeremy,
this helps. thank you. my footage saysDVCPRO 1080i30p for compressor — note the 30p.
should i still use the DVCPRO 1080i60 setting for the decompressor?
and this is a stupid question, but i can not find the encoder button. is there a place to click to make that appear? it isn’t even in the help menu.
thanks,

okay jeremy,
it sounds like there is a way to convert the 29.97 1080i 24P to real 24P.
is that what you are telling me?
can you give me the baby steps to achieve this?
i understand the export compressor step. after that, i don’t know what to do.
thank you,

hi jeremy,
thank you for showing me how to change 1080i 24p from 29.97 to 23.976 interlaced.
can you show me how to change 1080i 24fps to a true 24P?
thanks,
