Hey I started on vegas a few years ago. I loved it and finished alot if projects with it. When I turned to Avid it was a very frustrating couple of weeks. What Avid has won me over with is trimming, once you get use to that kind of control and options with your edits its weird to use other nle’s and feels limiting. I also saw improved quality in my rendered movies, although. I was using an
old version of vegas so idk might be different now.

Download the trial and see how it runs on your pc

  • The fx room kind of works independatly. You will need to create the hsl and masking there aswell to get the blur to stick. One note is the hsl will always work from the original footage, so when you select the finger nail your still picking red not the new color.
Wish I thought of that first so it wouldnt have to be done twice.

  • Yeah. In the secondaries you can use a color picker to isolate a color you want to change, then use a vingette to mask out any extra spots that are also red so you dont change those aswell.

Best of luck, look up a secondaries color tutorial if you have trouble

  • Could u just do some secondary color correction on it? Try and make it match the skin tone.

Easy in apple color or davinci resolve light

You can rip dvds staight to ur hard drive dnxhd or whatever you want with sorenson squeeze, which comes with avid. I have been doing this for a current project and have had no problems

For now you can open the fcpxml file In text edit and simply change the text from 1.1 to 1.0 and it will import fine.

if your not using avid media composer. your cheapest option is to download Davinci Resolve Lite, which can read the dnxhd mxf files. then you can convert them to a supported codec of your choice

When you drag clips in mc will import them. Instead either right click in the bin to link via ama or link to ama volume. All your media will be instantly ready for editing.
