January 27, 2022 at 6:43 pm in reply to: Beach Ball when trying to open a specific libraryThanks, T. and all. After doing some hunting around (and it may well be in the article T. posted), I found a solution for my case. Deleting “currentversion.flexolibrary” and “settings.plist”, likely with a combination of wiping prefs on a restart. Took a while to “verify” the program, but finally opened. Whew. Thanks again and hope this solution works for anyone else coming across this.

January 27, 2022 at 4:31 pm in reply to: Beach Ball when trying to open a specific libraryThanks, Jeremy. No luck. Was able to open several libraries (though most with missing media because I don’t have the drives connected). But when trying to open an earlier version of this one (though “backup” was grayed out) via open library>locate>movies>final cut back up>podcast) ANY version (even tried one from a month ago) immediately goes to beach ball and not responding requiring a force quit. I’m starting to get really nervous.

Thanks Eric. I’ll investigate. I don’t have much experience with compound clips.
I’m also wondering if I shouldn’t be looking at a Multicam type of approach (which, again, I have no experience with). But since all the clips are identical takes, just from different sources, maybe that’s the way to go?

I may give it another try. I’ve never been able to get the dramatic, severe falloff I’m looking for, but maybe just need to mess around with it some more. Really appreciate all the help.

Yeah, that must be it. Have used the regular as a work around (it works fine in terms of cropping), but as you say, doesn’t give me the vertical look I need. I’ll see what I can find in the Motion template (it was preinstalled on FCPX).

Ah, gotcha. Yes, that is sort of the issue. If you look at the second shot with the older man, you can see the full shot in the timeline. He actually has plenty of room in the frame. But when adding the vignette effect, it is choosing to cut off the frame at his shoulder/right ear (as shown in viewer). Can’t tell if it is a bug, or what. Thanks for the help.

Thanks, Jeremy. They’re actually not stills. Talking head interviews. Curious about the frame boundaries thing…..

And would love to know the name of that old DB program. Sounds handy!
Thank you again.
