  • and Steve Rhoden, I think I might just stick with 13 for now and visit 14 later in the future when the time is right 🙂

  • Hmm interesting, and yes my project file size is 8 Megs total

I decided I am going to stick with Vegas 13 (the version below 545 that doesn’t seem to be quite affected as much as 14 and 13 build 545 by MAGIX) just because I’m not liking the blue screen of deaths and having to hard reset my computer when it says low on memory and the entire computer crashes, it leave me with a very uneasy feeling that I might lose everything

But I think the problem may be in some old MTS files that I think were compressed about 6 or 7 years ago in either WinFF or another program I cannot recall and maybe that has something to do with the “low on memory” message

Thank you guys for your help and suggestions though 🙂

Thank you for your help but I just decided to put my timeline project back onto my older version of Vegas 13 as I have been using 13 for years without fail or problems, I know for a fact the reason I’m having trouble has something to do with how MAGIX has changed the program obviously so I’ll just use 13 for now thank you for your help 🙂

Hello Scott! Have I got some great news for you! ☺

I myself had this exact same problem, there is a way! So before I say this like it was mentioned earlier if you have 13 (545) then you will not have this problem, but as for you and me we had an older version of 13 so for other people reading or have this problem if you have 13 build (545) you won’t even have to worry as you can transfer back and forth fine with 14 and 13

All you have to do is uninstall 13 (the old version you have)
Either find a trial version of build 545 or like I did find a link for a keygen for it (I had to because it was impossible to find the trial version)

Once that is installed open up Vegas 14 and Vegas 13 (build 545) and you will notice now you have the ability to copy from program to program, do that and save as your project in Vegas 13 build 545, close the programs and uninstall Vegas build 545..

Now all you have to do is re-install your older version of Vegas 13 and you will now notice you will be able to open the project!

Reason I wanted to do this is because Vegas 14 is giving me and my computer WAY too many problems, its super glitchy and always is crashing, I’m assuming its because MAGIX changed up how it works and I guess it doesn’t work well now with my computer so I decieded to just stick with the exact same version of 13 that I have been using for years instead because I know I’ve done very long hours of editing and absolutley no problems have came up and even though 13 build 545 is a better upgrade I suspect that it is even more closer to the changes made in how 14 works and I’d just rather not even risk it

Like if I put in .mpg files that are 4:3 format right this second they will show up as correct 4:3 on my 16:9 set DVD project…

Now if I take another 4:3 video that is .mp4 this time it comes up as 16:9!? Also I have some other .mpg files that are 4:3 and they have this same problem some .mpg 4:3 will show up as 4:3 in Architect but some .mpg 4:3 files have the black bars on the side, very bizare

I need it to be 16:9 because my DVD menu art was made for widescreen!

Also my problem is that why does it show up as 4:3 and when I put the same file in again it turns up as 16:9?

  • Thank you for the help, I figured just using Sony AVC because Architect just can’t simply use Mainconcept, I know this because I tried to compress a AVC Mp4 (which was fine in architect) with handbrake just to make it a smaller MP4 and when I put that compressed version back into Architect I got the same black empty frames at random parts again (especially the text titles at the start) So now I know the problem isn’t Vegas it is Mainconcept, and the only way this makes sense is that Handbrake uses Mainconcept when it compresses

February 4, 2016 at 3:11 am in reply to: Sony Vegas & It’s Horrible Problems With MP4

Thanks everybody for the help but I noticed Mainconcept just simply doesn’t work with DVD Architect, I know this because I switched to Sony AVC Mp4 and now magically there are no black flashes or empty frames in Architect!

It has nothing to do with my settings in Vegas, I know this because if I render as a Sony AVC and then If I take that file and compress it as mp4 in Handbrake AND THEN put it back into DVD Architect I get the same black missing frame problem again, so I assume Handbrake uses mainconcept as well, either way I figured to just use AVC when making my DVD’s in Architect now! Thanks for all your help guys

  • Do you think you could please link me to the topic? I clicked on your name and went recent activity searched “main” and I couldn’t find a post older than from my topic

    Thanks!

  • For the MP4’s I used Mainconcept AVC/AAC

    For the MPG’s Mainconcept MPEG-2
