I thought I posted a response earlier but here goes again. Thanks to whomever that pointd out about the green “t” clicking. It used to really bug me that in order to see the whole thread you had to click a few times. Now just one click and I can see them all. This makes me very happy. Hey, I take it where I can get it….

Thank freaking god someone pointed out the green “t” thing. that was always bugging me. Now my life has completely changed!!

  • After you “Make Movie”, which is adjust your settings etc, you then “Render” your movie, this will then output a sequence/file/.mov/.avi/etc.

I would duplicate your keyed footage, then apply a drop shadow, the check the box that says show shadow only. Either make the layer a 3d layer then position it right to match the way is should fall or in stead just corner pin the layer and distort appropriatley.

Those are good suggestions. Now, how does one make a camera using everyday household items? (insert icon here to show that I am joking)

You probably checked this already but… do you have motion blur turned on?

Yeah, I meant AE. I use Maya and have a few rigs that I use as well.

    Hey Chris,

Thanks for the tips, do you have a preset rig that you use and import into all your projects or do you make it everytime?

I will definitely try this out.

Just cut the cover off the book in photoshop. Erase everything but the cover and then save it as a .tiff with transparency (alpha). Bring that to AE turn it into a 3d layer, move the anchor point to the bottom edge (where the spine of the book would be) then rotate it in the proper direction. you may have to duplicate the cover layer and then move it a pixel behind the front then ALT replace it with a solid color to act as the inside cover.

you know, that sounds like a good way too! I come from a 3d animator BG so the depth thing and controling cameras come easy but this may be even better. I hardly ever use nulls, i should really start to learn the many ways to use them.
