Here’s what I get from the uplink editor:

-These are supposed to be 26:46. Episode 2001 is 26:47:20. In the world of automation, many stations record for the exact length of time listed, the program will be downcut.

This forum does not allow me to edit, so let me try this again. I’ve been checking up stream of the workflow and found that the sequence and the Quicktime export is 23.98; however, the length of the timeline is 28:15:23 and the Quicktime is 28:16:06. So it appears I have an anomaly even before it goes to captioning and 29.97 conversion for uplink. (Where I gain 1 second and 20 frames.)

So if I need 26 minutes and 46 seconds in a finished 29.97 drop frame video, what do I need to have in the 23.98 sequence? What would the formula be?

Okay, I did make the changes but I think it was the frame size that made the real difference. The Motion setting was 720×486 and the FCP size was 720×480.

If not DV NTSC what should I be using “Square?”

There are quality choices in quicktime conversion, but I don’t see any high quality option in quicktime movie exports. Please explain.

    Thanks Peter,

I added the single frame 400 hz countdown beep from 10, and I think it will make the station editors happy.
