When I Export a Quicktime Movie from FCP it gains 6 frames according to Quicktime Player. If I import the same file back into FCP as a movie file it is at the correct length. The sequence and the export are 23.98 fps. Below are my sequence settings. Note that the fps is “Custom” and the fps is 23.976. I’m not sure where that came from, but my capture source was 24p. Please advise.

Sounds like QT is misinterpreting the length. If you can’t actually identify an extra 6 frames, then there’s probably nothing to worry about.

23.976 is the true frame rate of 24p in video. FCP rounds it up to 23.98, but it is actually 23.976.

    All the best,

Here’s what I get from the uplink editor:

-These are supposed to be 26:46. Episode 2001 is 26:47:20. In the world of automation, many stations record for the exact length of time listed, the program will be downcut.
