Another classic issue that drives me mad is that some of those video files that are perfectly visible in the preview box, may be COMPLETELY missing from the end render! If you have those fragments overlaid, the overlay is just blank.
The files are h364 mp4’s, nothing special.
It’s really nice to see that after an hour of render, the result is completely useless. -
Well, I don’t even try to use GPU-acceleration during editing, as I assume it would never work in any software.
However there is a noticeable difference when using MAGIX AVC codec with GPU-acceleration on rendering. You save about 20-30% of time.
There are moments wen Vegas will just stumble upon something on the timeline and hang with clock ticking during render.
I don’t use odd file formats on the timeline, moreover, it’s mostly png/jpg (I do educational videos).I would have switched to Resolve long time ago, especially after they fixed the alpha-channel, but unfortunately they don’t support anything over FHD in the free version, and I’m not really ready to invest in yet another video editor at this point.
Also, there is a learning curve and you have to forget most of your muscle memory skills used in Vegas. Not that it is too convenient anyway, as motion tracking, masking and overlapping in Vegas is a nightmare, especially if the fragments are all different DPI.
And I’m yet to see a video editor, that allows you to loop fragments just by pulling on the side of the event, like Vegas does. In Resolve and Premiere, you can only drag the event until it ends. -

November 17, 2019 at 12:11 pm in reply to: Ryzen 7 2700 build for Vegas Pro 17 – advice freely accepted! You should prefer x570 motherboards, this will ease up future upgrades. “Gaming” variety are mostly shiny stickers and RGB outs. Just don’t use those. Consider motherboards with hi quality and hi performance MOSFETs on VRM. Avoid MSI, Gigabyte and ASUS at all costs.
You would want CUDA for everything. ATI could never produce videocards, they just got lucky with the Bitcoin craze.
I wouldn’t recommend anything lower than 1660, preferably 8gb.If you go for USB audio, make sure it is a real USB3.0. Just type-c connector is not enough, as currently most type-c devices are USB 2.0.
FHD video rending is a slow process, so even laptop 5400rpm HDD would be sufficient for taking fragments from and writing result back to the same drive. A 256gb M2 ssd for OS, apps and virtual memory page file and temp folder, and 1-2TB 7200hdd for source and result video would be enough. Again, that’s FHD.
I would recommend a good power supply. 650W Chieftec (GPM-650C) is really nicely built one with no shortcuts to save costs.
Cougar cases are nice, well built and relatively cheap.

Close all instances of vegas, Hold Ctrl and Shift, then click Vegas icon to launch it and wait till and open to reset settings appears. Agree and check if it helped.
If not, you would also need to clean out all codes that you have installed, reboot and install the codecs again. -
The video is probably in NTSC, which has a 29.97 frame rate, i.e. slightly less than 30 FPS. That means that on long runs, the audio and video desync is inevitable since audio files is at 30 “fps”.
Same for 59.98 NTSC and 60 FPS.
You have to adjust for that. -
