  • Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll give it a try. If I am able to determine a fix …. i’ll post the fix here.

  • My music does the same thing … plays only about 10 seconds and loops again. This is a Blu-Ray project burned to a 4.7GB DVD. Everything works great in my standalone BD player (Samsung) except for the menu looping prematurely. In the preview disc area of DVD Architect it works just fine … just not when burned to a DVD and played through my set top BD player.

I have set the menu length to both ‘Auto Calculate’, and ‘Specify’ but the music still loops at about 10 seconds. This happens on sub menus as well). I rendered the audio in both WAV and AC3 formats from Vegas 9. Still loops at 10 sec. My buttons don’t lock up however … just loops.

Thank you sir for your reply. Working with Cineform is a significant reason, but since Cineform works with 8.0(32 bit), v9 isn’t needed as much as I had thought. As far as 8.1 is concerned, you’re right, I should have done more research. I’m glad you are here to help with my v9 homework.

BTW I tried installing Vegas 9 trial the other night, and it would get part way through the installation, and back peddle through uninstalling itself. Perhaps this was a sign that I should just stick to v8 (32 bit). I’m more productive when I don’t worry about “versions and bits.” 😉

Thanks again Mr Rofrano for your time. Your information, and choice of NLE(32 bit) helps me a great deal to put some issues to rest.

Mr Rofrano, thank you for a response. I’m glad the issue isn’t mine alone. My reply is delayed because of an email being classified as junk. I just found it. : )

The move to v9 (64) wouldn’t come cheap. It is my goal eventually though(I really like the additional headroom for RAM previews since I have 16GB RAM).

I need to know is it WORTHWHILE to upgrade from v8 (32) to v9 (32/64)? I wont upgrade unless there is a significant feature that will help my workflow. I used v6 for a LONG time. I only upgraded to v8 because of the 64 bit option(8.1). 8.1 doesn’t work. STEPPED ON! LIED TO! SWINDLED! BAMBOOZLED!!

What version do you use for the main portion of your work?

    ************ UPDATE ***************

I can import 16 files all day long … no problems. I tried to import 16 at at time … several times … different clips from different projects I am working on. Great. Try to import 17 … BAD!

In this test project, i imported several sets of 16 without trouble. I saved the project … I re-started vegas. loaded the project. switched to thumbnail view … and on the 17th thumbnail … CRASH!

Thanks. Understood … I know what those after midnight work sessions can be like. I will have to wait and see if Sony fixes the issue in a patch. Until then, I will use v8.0 (32-bit).

  • I believe (after more testing) that the issue is with how Vegas 8 deals with M2T files and not with iZotope in particular. I can change my “Audio Editor” and the file still comes back out of sync.

I can (like you) perform the operation flawlessly in an older version of Vegas (v6 for me), and it works when the source is AVI. I converted all of my M2Ts to Cinform’s intermediate codec (AVI) and it work now.

NOTE: v8 does not come with Cineform’s intermediate codec. (or it’s a newer version that’s not compatable) I also have version 6 of Vegas, so I renamed the cfhd.dll found in the v8 directory, then copied the older cfhd.dll from the v6 directory to the v8 directory … wow it works. I can import and export to cineform’s intermediate codec in v8.

    UPDATE!

I think this is an issue with v8 and trying to read Cinform AVIs. (v8 does not come with Cineform Intermediate codec like previous versions)

Since I have v6 of Vegas … I made a backup of the cfhd.dll by renaming it (v8 directory). I copied the cfhd.dll file found in the Vegas 6 directory to the Vegas 8 directory. By using the older version of the dll, I can again read my AVIs that I imported in v6. No crashes!

    I hope this helps.

Yes Sir, I have version 8.0c (build 260). I can render to avi, then “open copy in audio editor” and it works just fine, and it’s not just one particular clip giving me a problem. They all have the same behavior(M2T). There seems to be an issue with Vegas 8 and M2Ts.

My usual work flow (pre-v8) was to render to Cineform’s intermediate avi format, edit, then switch back to using the M2Ts for final render. However, since I moved to v8, I can no longer do that(without going back to v6).

I guess I will have to render to an intermediate format until Sony works out some bugs with M2T editing.
