  • Blu Ray menu playback problem with DVD Architect Pro 5

When using DVD ARchitect Pro ver 5 to author and burn to a BD-R I have a strange and annoying playback problem when the disk is put in a blu ray player. The problem manifests itself in several different model players.

The problem: When there is any background music added to any of the menus in my project, that menu will initially plays the first time for about only 10 seconds. Then the menu’s buttons (any buttons for submenus) stop working after about 10 seconds. At that 10 minute event I hear the menu’s music stop prematurely and all of the buttons become inactive. (their highligting option goes away). Then the music will restart from the beginning of the song and then play the song’s full lenght (normally a 1-2 minute long song from a .MP3 file) And none of the buttons on the menu remain active. The menu goes dead.

I’ve found that only way to get any of my menu’s buttons to accept commands is to activate them within the initial 10 second window when they are still active and working. Its quite frustrating.

I have observed that this behaviour only occurs to actually rendered and burned disks. It does not happen when previewed virtually in the software.

My workaround is to delete all menu background music from my menus and the menu buttons then will work as expected and do not time out.

All else seems to work. There are no error messages nor warnings of any type in my project. Its almost like when I add the MP3 song to a menu, that there is some other setting being set to tell that the menu will be active for only 10 seconds. Ive searched and cant seem to find any such setting.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My music does the same thing … plays only about 10 seconds and loops again. This is a Blu-Ray project burned to a 4.7GB DVD. Everything works great in my standalone BD player (Samsung) except for the menu looping prematurely. In the preview disc area of DVD Architect it works just fine … just not when burned to a DVD and played through my set top BD player.

I have set the menu length to both ‘Auto Calculate’, and ‘Specify’ but the music still loops at about 10 seconds. This happens on sub menus as well). I rendered the audio in both WAV and AC3 formats from Vegas 9. Still loops at 10 sec. My buttons don’t lock up however … just loops.

Yea, I finally “gave up” on this problem. I contacted Sony Creative software tech support.. and after a couple of emails.. they wanted me to FTP my project and supporting files to them.. which was a real pain for me to do. Rather than wasting my time with being their Quality Assurance staff for them.. switched to using Author Works 4 by TMPGenc. It works great, no bugs, doesnt re-encode like DVDA did, and I actually like its menu choices better for authoring the Blu-Rays or DVDs. Even supports pop-up menus that DVDA did not.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll give it a try. If I am able to determine a fix …. i’ll post the fix here.

I have the same problem and contacted Sony support on April 1. No one has even acknowledged my request more than a week later.
