    Nick-

Yeah the P2 thing is challenging at the moment… but by the time this camera is released there are going to be other options. Perhaps Firestore will step up to the plate with a less expensive drive that can hold a ton of footage…. Not to mention other solid state memory companies that are looking at this P2 camera as a way to showcase there fancy gadgets and make a buck. I’ll bet the answer will surface in the next six months.

    Cheers-

Graeme Nattress- “Cheap, affordable, high quality cameras level the playing field and force everyone to compete on talent, not dollars.”

Thank you ! Viva la revolution ! Right on Graeme!

Not quite, this is not an IRE issue or it would effect the entire colorbar range. Believe me, I am well schooled on 0-7.5 IRE and DV issues. Read my post again, it ONLY effects TWO color squares. Did you do the test?

Sounds like the old Avid codec problem with Reds.

Is this problem inherent to the 601 colorspace or the codec?

June 23, 2005 at 1:32 pm in reply to: Digitizing – Dropped Frames recurring problems

Don, thank you for your time and help. I trashed my prefs to no avail really. Yesterday I could import only into my internal HD, and only if I logged all of my offline clips and in and out points over(it wouldnt read my already logged clips). So I transferred everything on my HD to one of my externals, I read somewhere that sometimes external firewire HD arent meant for capturing.

That being said I really need help. As of yesterday I could at least capture the clips if I relogged the outpoints but as of this morning, I am not able. What is going on here? Again it says dropped frames and will not allow me to capture anything, regardless of the drive I save it into. Unfornuately I don’t have money to buy the disk warrior and I can’t call Apple since my version 4.1 is not legit, so I am at loss at what to do and my timeframe is very thin.

Please anyone that has any ideas as to why I can’t digitize without the dropped frames appearing let me know. I can’t believe just how many problems Final Cut has given me in the last 4 months.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jon

Make sure you do the “full” install (all authoring components) instead of the automatic way.

Don’t worry too much about it. Intel is just making a physical chip. The progamming inside the chip will be Apple and Media 100 should be able to supply easy updates to any of the minor thread changes.
