I am simultaneously astounded and impressed. I don’t know how I could get used to that whole focus thing. I do multicamera shoots and holding focus while the shot is moving is beyond critical.

I’m not talking about the autofocus – that back focus thing (a completely different issue) is my primary concern

IN my experience, unless the algorithm is quite complex MPEG looks like crap. Add to that the low bit-rate of only 9mbps – how can you say it looks likeDV

So what’s the deal? Is it a sound camera to go with or not?

A bit wrong here. I have NEVER EVER experienced a bump in any Sony low-end camera including PD170, 150, PDX10, Hi-8, V1, VX2000

Probably not unless you are willing to shell out some extra cash for a PCI express ethernet card with multiple ports (for link aggregation) and a fast DAS unit. I finally, literally two days ago got a solution similar to all of this working quite well. I have been working on it for the past 5-6 years with very little luck despite posting on forums and the like. Finally, usign Qos among other things I figured it out.
